Non-dedicated Server: Can't connect to host after crash
I posted this on survivetheark.com but haven't gotten a response after two or three days... Hoping that I don't have to go to reddit to get any input, since they seem to hate helping people.

Occasionally my game will either lock up or crash, or both. When this happens, I can no longer connect to my friend's non-dedicated server.

- Closing the game and re-opening it does not help.
- Rebooting does not help.
- Power cycling modem/router does not help.
- Verifying game cache does not help.
- My ports are opened in AV / Firewall, I think his are too.
- I am not listed as connected to his server in Host Administration.
- Having him close the game and re-open it, in its entirety, does not work.
- Other people can still connect to him.
- I can't see his server listed in non-dedicated or Friends even when private is NOT checked.
- I can connect to other servers, even non-dedicated.

This only happens when the game crashes. I really need to know if this is a flat-out bug or if there is something that can be remedied on either my side or his.

I'm having the same exact issue. Need more input on this issue.

Well since I made the post, I've discovered that when it happens on one of my friend's server, if he closes the game ALL THE WAY then launches it again, he'll get a fatal error which fixes the issue -- it's like the game sees that I'm supposed to be there but I'm not so it freaks out.

I did forget to mention that, but we tried it multiple times last night on multiple reuploads. That includes a fatal error crash. Thanks though. I can't find anything on any google searches including Reddit.

Had the same problem earlier today when the wife and I were playing together.

It seems like it happens more frequently with every new patch that releases bigger content instead of just minor bug fixes.

I suspect that it's "on their radar" but haven't put forth a fix. The Fatal Error issue when this occurs tells me that they've made SOME sort of change regarding the issue.

I guess the only thing to do is hope that the host closing the game in its entirety will fix the issue -- if not, I guess the host power cycling their modem/router (both, if separate) may help.

If even THAT doesn't work then the host will probably have to keep the game closed so that whatever services Ark uses times out.
plz fix

This is exactly the same issue I'm having. Game crashed on my friend's server, after which i could not longer see them in non deds. Now we brought in another 3rd person who was not in the game that crashed, in the same room, in the same house all 3 of us, on the same network, and the 3rd person could connect to the 1st person's non ded server, but not the 2nd person. In fact the 2nd person could not even host a non ded server that the 1st and 3rd person could see, or connect to the 2nd persons non ded server when they hosted it.

As such, we will see if maybe this is a caching issue on the server side, maybe it clears at midnight or something, because re-installing the game, Flushing DNS, renewing IPs and nothing changed other than the crash, makes me think this is not a computer issue, but a issue on Steams/Ark's server side

Start a new thread and stop necroing 6 year old threads detailing issues that were fixed years ago.
