Also, when moving prime, keep it on yourself for a short of time as possible, as it spoils much faster.
One of the tricks I use, especially if there are two of us, is to lure animals that are good for prime closer to my tame, and then kill them, but don't harvest them all at once. That is, I only harvest the corpse when I need to add more prime.
Another trick, at least for the first round, is to use the starve method. That is, you let the dino get really hungry, so that it eats everything you put on it. Just make sure you have enough to feed it; and make sure to put spare meat on it, just in case.
Then they won't eat it when moving about. And if you put raw prime meat in to an animals inventory, it spoils at half the time than if you're holding it. This way you can starve a knocked out animal as needed, and run around and do multiple kills for raw prime, stashing it lower in your flyer's inventory the whole time. Then fly back to what you have tamed, land beside it and quickly pull it out of flyer's inventory and fast-feed it to knocked out critter and if you starve it, it will nom it all up quickly, then you don't deal with spoilage so much.
Barring the fridge, you can make a preserving bin. It uses spark power to run and it will not preserve it as long as a fridge, but it will extend the decay timer by quite a bit.
Tame a paracer and see if you can get a platform saddle on it. Then you can build a preserving bin on it and take it with you. You can do the same with a raft if you plan on traveling by water.
Yes...but that chart had more than kibble list, so I am not sure why you are pointing that out to me.
I posted it for reference about kibble vs prime vs cooked prime vs jerky vs etc. instead of retyping it myself.
Also, some animals don't use prime, kibble, meat, berries or crops. Ovis need eggs; I prefer Giga eggs for a really fast tame, and the Roos only tame on Rare Mushrooms and Plant X Seeds.
But, thanks anyway.
Dam, i have over 1000 hours and didnt know that
well seems the secret is out now lol.. be the next thing they fix
Not relevant to the topic of the thread: The trick to taming a compy is to knock it out, let it wake up, knock it out again. Go farm prime meat and when you get back it'll be awake again so you knock it out a third time and then pump it full of prime. Almost instant tame. Tranq Darts are required for this, an x-bow will probably kill the compy.

The best way that I've found to keep the timer on prime up a bit while you're taming is to build a foundation and then build a preserving bin/mortar & pestle. Farm a bit of prime, put on dino, put rest in preserving bin with sparkpowder. Once you have 5 on the dino that won't decay, put a few in the preserving bin. Farm more until dino is tamed.
