How do i enable fly?

i wrote this in the console: enablecheats (mypassword)
then fly nothing happened.

in singleplayer i hit TAB and write "fly" then "walk" to disable the cheat.
On a server i think you need to press TAB and write "cheat fly" then "cheat walk" when you want to disable it.
