This is not a thread for advertising your server; there is a fourm for that: http://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/10/. If you are looking for a no fly server, the same forum will also serve that need.
This is the only warning.
Overall if you want to understand the reasoning behind disabling the birds, it forces players to work together as a team instead of single player, or single player but in a tribe. You have to actually fight your way to get resources, etc. Even setting up a camp to cook meat to heal yourself as you sit on a icy cold mountain. It does put survival back into the title of the game. So there are some fun factors with it. But again it's not for everyone.
Not saying people cannot disucss it. I basically said no advertising...aka no spam. So, not sure what you are even replying to. :D
And, I think it is a great topic. Have thought about running servers like that, or pushing air tames to a much higher level; but I can't get the others to bite.
When I restart on a server, I often avoid taming a bird until absolutely necessary, unless I happen to run across a 135+, then I have to go for it. Though, on my last restart, I lost 3 high level argy's to ground beasts. But, the game changes when you go from ground only to flying(or big dinos).
but if you tell the story I did of survival and cannibalism it oddly works to convince others to play.
I figured people might want to try the game mode before they make their final opinion on the subject. ;)
Personally, I absoulutely dreaded it until we made the decision to go ahead and put one up.
The game is so much more interesting when you can't just fly around anywhere at will. You don't have to worry about randomly being picked off your mount every time you go out. Ground dinos actually have a purpose.
It actually feels like a survival game again. Like the feeling of those first few moments when you spawn in to the game absolutely terrified and not knowing what's going on. Get that feeling all over again when you run across a wild Giga and you can't just fly away from it, lol.
Also not sure how posting a link to another ark subforum is spam. Did not see anything in the guidelines prohibiting it. Sorry for the trouble.
