As soon as you die, your character is taken to the map to respawn. On the map is a little mark exactly on the spot where you died. It doesn't tell you the coords, but you can deduce those from the map itself and the mark.

Type it in Tribe Chat real quick so you don't forget it.

Respawn, find the coords, hopefully find your stuff.

Yeah i know that but he said there wasnt a pointer showing so was abit confused all it showed was the spawn bed. I said to him you should of seen a point then simple make a note then go back and wasnt sure if there was another way ie logs so said i would ask.

That marker on the map is messed up, sometimes it shows your beds or the place you died on wrong spots.

You can backtrack the death markers by killing and looting them. When the bag doesnt have more loot it will despawn and the death marker will appear on the previus dead body, you then keep on doing this until you reach the one you want.

Assuming there are enough bodies (you've died enough times) and they are not far from each other.
Now imagine dieing in a map like the Center, which happened to me, I had a pair of tamed Dilos and no, I wasn't killed by a dino attack, I simply miscalculated a jump and fell to my death. I know, that's lame, anyway. I couldn't find my death point for the love of god, or anything, I wasn't that familiar with the map yet (and still am not to this day). I've even later explored a huge part of the map, was in the winter grass area, Redwood forests, swamps and whatnot (btw the waterfalls are amazing, but also a little bit scary), but never got anywhere close to my original death point with the two tamed Dilos watching over my stuff (if it was there still). So backtracking isn't that easy.
