My Procoptodon Taming and Early Review Video
Well I searched my server for about two days, even giving up sleep for one entire night, just trying to find Procoptodon. Tried various server settings and killing lots of dinos to get the kangaroos to spawn, but no luck. I did not use DestroyWildDinos, because that would go counter to other things I'm trying to do.

Finally, I used "summon PROCOPTODON_CHARACTER_BP_C" to get one to tame.

So, I got a kangaroo and tamed it. While I have been disappointed with the spawn rate ( zero ), I am not disappointed with the Procoptodon. It is every bit as fun to ride as I'd hoped, and even a little better: excellent maneuverability. Looks life-like and agile while maneuvering, too. Its "walk" ( or slower hop speed ) has to be one of the fastest of any animal yet on the ark. Its faster hop speed is quite fast. Its jumps, of course, are pretty phenomenal.

The Procoptodon isn't much of a fighter. It took surprisingly long to kill two compys that attacked us. It also doesn't have a huge amount of hit points: the level 28 that I tamed to level 40 tamed with 708 hp. Stamina numbers weren't real high either, however the stamina it did have went down slowly, and recharged VERY quickly.

The only thing I don't like about it is its fighting method: bites. Pretty sure that is not how a kangaroo defends itself. They're known to be some crazy punchers and kickers. Boxing kangaroos can knock a man out in the ring. I have even seen jack rabbits boxing each other. Quite amusing--wish I could have gotten that on video!

In a nutshell, I thoroughly recommend it as a fun mount. Good luck finding one at this point, however.

I can't seem to find one on my server either. My buddy found one low lvl on the beach just before the snow biome on the west coast so I know it is possible for them to be in game, I'm just wondering if they are extremely rare like the quetz? This would be a shame because at least with quetz (and mossy) you have a general idea to find them with zero chance of predators attacking and killing them. Is anyone else having this issue? I have seen numerous YouTube videos on people finding them, so I'm wondering if there is some patch that I might not know about or is there a super secret spot they always spawn? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Found one myself after searching for hours, dropped him in my pen went to farm mushrooms died... Play hardcore so I couldnt get back into tribe because no one was online xD By the time i got back he was gone :( They die very fast when they spawn, the one I grabbed had like 20 hp left when I grabbed it. Since they spawn on mountains they don't exactly last long.

Don't think they should be so rare as the quetzals, but quetzals have gotten to be pretty common on my server. Of course, they are extremely easy to spot. I have a feeling most of those youtube Procoptodons were force spawned. If I find any kangaroo spawns, especially hot spots, I will be sure and post it.

Bummer! Well, at least you know they're spawning. I've never had so much trouble finding a new critter in this game. Thanks for the info--guess I should focus more of my searching on the mountains. I probably had upwards of three dozen giganotos in the mountains, so just in case, I wiped those...they're coming back already though :P
