Procoptodon Review

After working with them over the past few days, I feel that I am in a good position to write a review on our latest animal release. The Procoptodon.

Overview: Standing at approximately 9 feet tall, the Procoptodon is probably one of the most unique and versatile animals added to the game so far. They are relatively peaceful and cute animals that are mostly found by Far's Peak, Frozen Fang, The Grand Hills, Weathertop, and Footpaw. Other locations include Herbivore Isle and Grand Peak.

Taming: When going after these animals, be prepared to chase them down unless you can pin them in a corner or carry one with a Quetzel because they are fast. I personally had to chase one for about 10 minutes until it got stuck in a cliff side. Once knocked out, their topor seems to go down at a moderate rate. Not as fast as a Spinosaurus, but faster than other animals of its size. Their preferred food when taming is Rare mushrooms and Plant Species X seeds, but once tamed will happily eat any berry.

Use: Tamed Procoptodons are a jack of all trades mount that are also the Pteranodons of the land. I bumped up the speed on mine to around 120 and I was able to out run even a Giganotosaurus. The most obvious use for them is found in a PvP setting. Their pouch gives them an extra offensive bump when in combat because a secondary rider can use his weapon and keep enemies a fair distance from them. They also have decent weight making them useful high speed pack mules.

Leveling: This is just my personal opinion, but I would focus on Health, Stamina, and a bit of speed in a PvP setting. In the PvE setting I would focus on Weight, Stam and Speed.

In a nutshell the Procoptodon is another great addition to The Ark and I can't wait to see what people do with them. Its certainly my new favorite mount.

Can it replace the argentavis in metal runs?

In primitive argenatavis are very weak unless you tame a 100+ one, but to use such bird for metal runs is a waste.

Can the new kangas replace it? With the jump+Nice weight+speed it should put argentavis on its toes

Being that you can get Argent and Procoptodon saddles within 5 levels of each other, i think its really comes down to your personal preference. Argents are nice because they can fly and deal with less enemies, but they are as slow as syrup on a cold winter day. Kangaroos are the fastest land mount (I think so at least), but you are at much higher risk of attack on the ground.

Good review, but don't use the word "vanish" when describing their torpor unless it literally vanishes, as in, goes away super fast.
