Tame an Icthy instead, you can just run away from all the Sharks.

I figured shark was king of sea so too speak, thats why i got him, which is now a her...

To be honest i dont think i care too much for the underwater part of the game. i was hoping for pearls out of it but it appears from wiki pages that the underwater pearls only spawn in the same location as the land based ones and getting shark from my base to there is harder compared to a quetzal or agentavis.

so its like meh, dont seem like any benefit to being underwater at all really

Underwater caves are worth the effort.

don't go underwater then. you haven't met a mosasaurus or plesiosaurus yet i guess. they are way more scary than a few sharks

Yeah, I remember when I started playing oil & pearls could only be found in the ocean. Back then you had a ton of megas swimming at you at full speed. Scary as hell, hated and loved it :D. Recently I started on a new server and miss the fact that you're no longer forced into the dark depths because of pearls/oil you can get to with a raft and some campfires.

The oceans in ARK can be intimidating at first, but its not as bad as you think. Get a dolphin, put points in speed to get him moving at least about 200 speed(or close), then start dumping points into weight and a bit of stamnia since you will always be using the dolphins sprint. You can literally go diving with a good dolphin no scuba gear needed.

Then do a search here on the forums or maybe it was google I forget, and find the ARK caves map. Once you have a GPS and the caves map, you can swim out to the coords on your fast dolphin then go straight down and find the entrance to the cave. Your dolphin can easily outrun anything at that point so just keep an eye out and watch your oxygen levels. Once you enter the cave you will find a lot of oil and crystals.

For pearls look all over the ocean floor for the big clams to get silica pearls. They sparkle from a distance so are easy to spot groups of them. Just sprint down on your dolphin, hop off and gather a group of them up, then hop back on your dolphin and sprint up to surface. Rinse and repeat as much as needed. You can also take some of that food/drink that gives you more oxygen I forget the name.

Good hunting/diving, hope this helps.

The eurpterid (underwater scorp) will drop them upon being killed. They will then b used in advanced electronic things. The scorpion is currently going to b untameable, though the devs hav said they will possibly reconsider. It has an attack that drains stamina.

(Clipping through the surface so you could see clearly, gathered them up to mass murder then for prime so some folks on the server could raw prime a low level giga :p)
