The Isle has pretty much nothing, but it isn't a grind-fest
Isle.
The Isle seems to be more dinosaur focused, while humans will be added in their are major limitations to what they can do, you can't build an epic fortress in the Isle, I doubt there will be any farming or overly serious crafting system either. And thats fine they are two seperate games doing two seperate things, the only similarity IMO is the heavy dinosaur focus.
As for what to buy, ARK has more, much more content, while being poorly optimized, this game(the isle) currently runs better but right now there is really nothing to do at the moment. So take your pick. I would and have bought both.
The Herbivores are insanely OP compared to the carnivores. Also, there only seems to be one really active dev who keeps releasing skins week after week. Luckily, you'll be looking at a small balance patch once or twice a week most likely from Dondi. Not sure what the others do unless they are working behind the scenes.
There are pluses though for the Isle. The models and the sound effects and dino animations are top notch quality. There is not much content right now and only very basic systems in place.
