How to find Pteranodon and body bag in the swamp
Unfortunately I just died in the swamp during the night chasing a present from Raptor Claus. I was unexpectedly attacked by 3 Titanoboas and... well... I died. To make things worse, the game crashed.
Now I just started it up again, and it's 10:30AM already... I'm looking for my body (probably eaten, so rather the little bag) or at least my levelled up Pteranodon (which was on follow).
When I died it must have been something between 2 and 3AM - so if that many hours have passed, the bag shouldn't be there anymore... but it's impossible that time went by that fast.
I didn't get a death message for the Flyer yet so I'm still hoping that I can find it.

ANY suggestions on how to find things?

1st your bag lasts 15min so its probably gone and you have lost everything. (Unless was on single player but you havnt said so)

2nd Did you fit a tracker? if did track it if you didnt take a bird to where you died fly up fly down till you find your bird hit j then head home. if you dont know where you died fly around the swamp until you find it.

It was single player. But how is that different? Isn't it always 15 minutes, no matter if online or local?
No, no tracker...
Well, that's what I'm doing - flying around the swamp for good 20 minutes already, but no Pteranodon that's minde. Unfortunately I don't know exactly where I died - just that it was somewhere at the "outskirts" of the swamp not right in the middle of swamp trees, not far from green obelisk.
I guess the bag is gone... but not getting a death message of the Flyer is strange since I can't find it anywhere.

i meant if u have turned it off then will have 15min from when you get back on. yeah it would of gone by now but i would suggest flying lower and just keep hitting j also fly up as sometimes they fly up. But as long as your flying round where you think you died then you will find it it just might take abit of time.

I found it 3 hours later by accident, at night, when the name tag popped right out... Next time I play I'm going to make some of those trackers... never used them.
Thanks for trying to help!

the bird if you havent had a death message, fly over with another bird if you have one constantly whistling follow

there is also a couple great add ons I found for this, pet and corpse finder. I had the same thing happen in the east swamp but it was Piranahs that got me. I accidentally left my mount on passive from trying to tame something :(

Pteranadons have an uncanny knack for staying alive since they flee from any danger and their saddle armor helps prevent harm until they can escape. We've found birds assumed lost for a couple months when someone is flying over a forest or swamp and sees a flash of green name.

Eagles, on the other hand, are idiots and will get themselves killed at the first opportunity when left to fend for themselves.

Brilliant mods, those.

On solo play, in which I experiment with things like electric and high-tech items, I use Slow Stuff Decay which ups the time backpacks last to 8 hours, and causes the backpack to emit a smoke signal. If I recall correctly I think one of the servers I play on has that mod installed.

I think I decided against that on glance because I am completely out of storage space and trying to relocate. Can you turn off item you drop decay?

If you're on single player there are INI file commands to up the decay timers ;) We run a 45 minute timer on our privte PVE server. We found that going much higher caused a lot more lag as the timer command effects dropped items and dino bodies so it's more info for the server to track.

I suggest flying low over the swamps with another flyer though, thats how I find my bodies.

The commands are as follows and go in the Game.INI under [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] section...

GlobalItemDecompositionTimeMultiplier=3
GlobalCorpseDecompositionTimeMultiplier=3

That will give you a 45 minute item bag timer and the same on corpses (dino and player corpses)

Could you please link me to those add ons? I found the pet finder https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=566887000 but not one called corpse finder.

So this one http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=479884434 But doesn't it cause problems with having stuff pile up that you throw away and decrease frame rate with all the extra load for dead animal bodies lying around all over the map for so long? I'd rather only have player bodies and item bags decay slower. Well, that's all I'd want.

There aren't timers for player bodies and bag timers specifically?
