Incubation room layout
I got a place on a beach, I made a incubation room, campfires, placed 4 aircos.

Still it says too cold when trying to hatch a egg, doesnt matter whiich type.

I got a few questions regarding this:

1) are campfires/torches a good way to make heat?

2) if you spam enough aircos, will they always be perfect for incubations?

I heard that if you place enough of a certain number of aircos, you will -always- hatch any egg without having to play with temperatures ever again or move the eggs all over the island, be it a quetzal, ptera, or whatever dino there is.

I use 4 AC units. Have only incubated an Arg and Ptera babies though. Never had an issue with temp. I'm in the northeast part of the map.

I am in the southern end of the map near red obelisk. My room is metal structure with 6 ACs in a U shape around the foundation i place the eggs on. So far 0 issues on placing an egg down and having it incubate.

Short Answer:

1) NO - at least not for incubation
2) YES

Ok, so I just need to make more airco units and place them till the egg starts incubating and if I place 10 for example that should be enough to hatch any egg even if it needs +1 degree or +30?

Pretty much, yea.

We have 12 A/Cs (2 rows of 6) on top of a catwalk, and just throw the eggs under them. We live in the snow biome and have had ZERO issues incubating any egg.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/drazan/screenshot/395553315341747645 on right u see my hatch area
below are 7 airco(3 on each side, and 1 in centre) put those so that you can move in and out(for dropping the egg) then above i made a ceeiling with 4 more airco. hatching goes flawless

14 A/Cs was not enough to incubate a Giga egg for me (I live on the beach). I'm Incubating with ease now using 23.

Weird, I incubated one with 6 ac's. I'm a little back from the beach though, it's slightly warmer.

Pretty much the rule of thumb is if your egg isn't incubating add more aircons till it is :P Think I got like 14 aircons in mine, that does Giga and Quetzal for me, just it depends on where you live.

8 aircons in a medium/small room will do any egg, dont really need to mess around with designs.

How are your AC units layed out? They are super powerful, but loose effectivness over a very small area. I live in the swamp so "too warm" is more often my problem. With 6 AC units in a U shape I can incubate anything I want. I recommend getting them really close to each other so that their effect overlaps where you put your eggs down. I also wouldn't build your incubation room out of anything less than Stone because you can loose insulation that way too.

Hope that helps!

I built a incubation room out of stone, like 6 wallsx3 walls wide, and 2 tiles high.
Stone roof over it, and I have so far 4 aircos in a U-shape with room for 1-2 eggs in the middle so that any baby can leave the room.

My server however -official 430- has it's metal spawns overcamped, we got players on 4-5x or more quetzals carrying a ankylo and forges on top circling the island nonstop and stripping every hill+mountain constantly.
So you have to race to a metal spawn because 9/10 there's a quetzal incoming and about to land.

I don't own one so metal for me is quite difficult to get.
I placed one ankylo on the vulcano and one ont the NE mountain, 9/10 those places are always empty, including surrounding mountain slopes.
Smaller mountains and hills have bases built on top of them with foundation spams.

That's why I asked because aircos are thus very costly for me to build and I simply can't afford to build a bunch of them and experience it is not working at all.

I haven't tried it personally, but in your situation maybe taming a few penguins to surround your incubating eggs would work (in addition to the AC units you already have)?

*Thermal insulation both warm and cold at sweetspot (all the AC's working together)

this setup will hatch anything anywhere.
