Personally, I'm not crazy about any of the mod maps except Ragnarok. All of them were released in various states of being unfinished.
All of them are too big. They take forever to cross unless you're playing on a larger server where people have teleporters and if you do manage to get a busy server, the lag isn't much fun. Even Rag has a bunch of redundant areas and could have been cut in 1/3 if not 1/2.
As for Lost Island specifically, the boss is nearly impossible to solo without cheesing it, and I'm not saying the two new ridden dinos are garbage, but they also don't fill any new niche.
In other words, I've tamed them, but I don't need to use them.
The sinomacrops (sp?) changes the game as far as dungeons go, but I'd still rather just use my otter and a wingsuit.
I've never understood the appeal of the ruins or castles either, and none of the caves were memorable to me.
It was nice to get some of the Genesis dinos I couldn't otherwise get since I don't have the DLC.
I haven't yet played it on a server (except for a few visits on my own to make sure it was working), but in SP, I did build in the central castle in Redwood, (but not because it was a castle), because it had a huge flat area in the center of the map.
With no new explorer notes or lore, why should I care about these vague buildings that aren't big enough to breed larger dinos.
