Lost Island map still trash? Any good for singleplayer?
I remember there being so many complaints about Lost Island when it first came out, including that it felt empty and was very buggy, that I didn't want to waste time trying it. Has anything changed since then? I'm thinking of coming back to Ark after hiatus but I want to start fresh on a new map. But I don't want to start pouring my time into it only to find it so disappointing I abandon it.

Personally, I think it's the only good free dlc map

What do you like about it? Any complaints? How are the dungeons/caves?

I find Svartalheim (spellin?) and Volcano (despite being semi abandoned, could be wrong?) and Fjordur beautiful overall single player maps , the chaos of volcano (and all biomes) same with the others plus Svart adds the no flyer rule and some nice moria dwarf stuff (keep it on , no fair with it) or the "everything" of Fjordur. I find just pump up the difficulty abit overall and population to keep it jumping and scary. (its big enough i find on vanilla settings that there is so much space they dont interact as much and I love watching the "nature" do its thing, usually to my own detriment as something comes up behind me). I honestly can't think of any I don't like other than Rag and its just the lack of water.

Personally, I'm not crazy about any of the mod maps except Ragnarok. All of them were released in various states of being unfinished.

All of them are too big. They take forever to cross unless you're playing on a larger server where people have teleporters and if you do manage to get a busy server, the lag isn't much fun. Even Rag has a bunch of redundant areas and could have been cut in 1/3 if not 1/2.

As for Lost Island specifically, the boss is nearly impossible to solo without cheesing it, and I'm not saying the two new ridden dinos are garbage, but they also don't fill any new niche.

In other words, I've tamed them, but I don't need to use them.

The sinomacrops (sp?) changes the game as far as dungeons go, but I'd still rather just use my otter and a wingsuit.

I've never understood the appeal of the ruins or castles either, and none of the caves were memorable to me.

It was nice to get some of the Genesis dinos I couldn't otherwise get since I don't have the DLC.

I haven't yet played it on a server (except for a few visits on my own to make sure it was working), but in SP, I did build in the central castle in Redwood, (but not because it was a castle), because it had a huge flat area in the center of the map.

With no new explorer notes or lore, why should I care about these vague buildings that aren't big enough to breed larger dinos.
