Ark the Animated History Lesson

Has anybody else watched the animated series? forgive me if i'm wrong but i thought the animated series was supposed to be about the Video Game and not the horrific acts of violence committed against indigenous people by white settlers.

Firstly we are treated to a flashback from Helena, who is Aboriginal now, i never heard any mention in my time with the game that she was, and of course there is no issue with that, the flashback in question however shows her mother at an protest defending Aboriginal land against oppressive whites, iv'e tamed many dinos over the years but never a radical, is that a new type of animal? as i don't remember them in the game, the game that this series is based off of.

Next we have a Native American who mourns the loss of his wife and has carved a small wooden sculpture to remember her by, now you would assume, as i did, that she was lost to another tribe, as that is what the game is about, tribal warfare, or a dinosaur attack, also what the game is about, but no she was killed by white folk during Americas colonisation and we are treated to a flashback of him in his burning village before his abduction to the Ark.

Every time a new character is introduced its not, "whats your name", its, "what time are you from", just in case there are any horrific acts that have befallen your people that we can dredge up and attempt to hold modern people accountable for.

Things happened and the're over now and i honestly don't understand why people cannot simply get along, its best for everyone and for our future generations but the entertainment industry seems hell bent on keeping this divide and division between people going, they were not present during these times and nor do they have memories that keep them awake at night.

Honestly Wildcard your track record is already appalling, and now this, did you by chance team up with Sweet Baby Inc for this mess, i know one of the writers, Marguerite Bennett, has been recognised for her depiction of female relationships and her representation of LGBTQ stories and characters in prior work, and it shows in this, all females, apart from cannon fodder, are OP.

I was hoping for the story of Ark but instead we get more racist, gender bender based crap that we see in so many other mediums, this is not Ark.

Well, they've always stated she was from australia. But I always thought the lady riding the (?) baryonyx in the all the splash art was supposed to be helena?

And we don't have to have cartoons teaching biased history either, most countries already do that.

I had a friend from japan, and she told me that all she remembers being taught about WWII in school was "America tricked us into attacking pearl harbour, america tricked us at midway, then they dropped atomic bombs on us, then they invaded us". America came off as some sort of evil bugs bunny, and japan was basically elmer fudd.

Been in Japan for decades. Unless your "friend" was taught in very early Showa in some very provincial prefecture, that's now how the that's taught. Sorry, Will.

This post is interesting to me since I had some thoughts on the animated series as well. I'm in the middle of a 100% all notes all bosses run so luckily I have all notes for The Island, Scorched Earth, and Aberration. It's so weird because Helena doesn't encounter/mention Nerva until note 27 on The Island. Only mention of timeline gaps from one person to another is in Aberration as Mei yin comes from an age just before gun powder was invented and Diana and Santiago come from a future far beyond Helena's time. At the end of episode 6 I hollered "gaaaayyyyy!" when Mei yin and Helena are kissing. I'll be honest I thought Helena was white all these years. Also reviewing notes after watching, Rockwell in the notes is different in body type and face structure compared to that weird Abraham Linchon bloke we got in the show. I just wanted to throw my two cents in.

the series changed up rockwell worst of all compared to any of the lore in game. I think the thing that bugged me personally the most was there was very little interaction with dinosaurs/creatures other than just trying to parade a quick shot of them making it just about the conflict instead of the habitat and wonders of it all.
