Make up a pack of wolves and go hunting mammoth in the snow is the fastest way I know for pelts.

EDIT: Edge of the snow :)

Why farm beavers at all? You only get a small amount pelt from them. Build a raft and put some PSX and a couple of campfires on it, sail to the edge of the snow biome, angry up a mammoth or two and run back to your raft, wait for the plants to take them down and chop them up with a metal axe. Rinse and repeat and you'll have all the pelt you need in no time at all.

That being said, where can find beavers to farm pelts so that I may reach the lofty goal of fur armor? I checked their spawns according to gamepeida but they weren't actually there.
Lol noob don't complaint just use raft and wolf.

Beavers spawn in most rivers, but a easier/quicker option is strafing runs into the snow.

Get a fast mount that can kill (Argent, Carno, Saber aremy top pics)
Have Metal Axe
Dash in kill mammoth/Wolf/Deer
Harvest with Axe for larger amount of pelt
Run out to heal off load haul
repete as needed.

Coming up from the West coast will give you a safer area to retreat to and there are plenty of spawns just into the snow and a few places where the temps are not set right and its actually warmer like in the shallow rivers.

Where did he say he was level 60? Sure, he's played 60 hours but if that were the case, I'm level 880.

Have a giga or rex/spino? Set them to follow and on agressive. Then just ride a wolf/saber around and it'll kill all the things, then you harvest with the wolf. Store the pelts on whatever dino you brought to kill stuff.

Let me paraphrase his comment so you can understand what he actually said:

"That being said, where can I find beavers to kill so that I can farm pelt from their dead bodies..."

How did you even get taming beavers out of what he said? That would make absolutely no sense.

I've never even seen one of those in the wild =p As if I could do anything about it if I did
It's OK if you see them. Just don't let them see you. :)

Just on that, heading towards the north coast looking for fur is likely to... cough... introduce some rather... cough... serious encounters. Don't take your high level stuff with you or at least drop it somewhere safe first. :steamhappy:

Use raft still the best you build ur raft as a trap lurk them in and kill easy lol didn't I say play smart and yea I did misread beaver thought he prefer to use it as weight carry abd pelt isn't light. But anyway lol

Dude... you EDITED to take out the "beaver saddle" he refers to. It's OK though, we all quoted what you said and the timestamp shows when you edited too.

Probably not a good idea to dig yourself another hole with that broken shovel of yours.

Right, anyway, I have a raft, and I like to think I play smart. I haven't tried anything yet (other than looking for beavers) I just know you freeze really quickly up there, so I didn't think it was viable to kill mammoths. I've still relatively new to the game.

What weapons should I use? I don't have any of the wolves tamed. Again, I'm playing solo and they pack up, so that's really difficult.
You can pick up wolves with an Argie (as an example) and drop them into a taming pen. Doesn;t have to be wolves anyway and nor do you need the snow either. You can find mammoths around the volcano etc.

Rafts and wolves are simply easier because you can get mammoths on the periphery of the cold. A neat trick I used early game was take the wolves/raptors whatever, via a raft and drop them off. Jump on Ptera, set to aggressive and hunt.

if you get cold, neutral the wolves, fly out. Warm up. There's a great spit on the central north to land that is the boundary of the snow biome. Easy to work from there. "Summer house" on one side of the spit, snow on the other. :)

Errr.... No. That's ONE option. Using a bird in the snow without fur is WISE - so you can get out quickly. You can also get mammoth outside the snow biome.

tbh, if you're not even lvl 30, why do you even need fur?
