Is this game kid-friendly?
My 8 year old son really likes dinosaurs and he's been nagging me to buy this game for the last few months. I've looked at screenshots and videos showing people with weapons and suff so I'm not sure if this is appropriate for my son to play.

Single play or personal server I wouldn't see why not. you do attack and kill dinosaurs but there is a lot of gathering and building and stuff. I would not play online tho as there are a lot of people that just want to ruin your experience.

You are a human stranded on this island and have to find a way to survive. For this you have to get food, the most efficient way for this being hunting and killing the creatures.

If you are on a single player world, then I see nothing wrong with it.

Ok. But is there an iPad version like the Minecraft Pocket Edition for my son to play while he's at school?

Ok so I looked at some videos of this game and noticed that there are women in their underwear being depicted in this game. Are there any sexual references or themes in this game?

My 9 year old daughter has clocked about 45 hours in the past 2 weeks, my eleven year old son about 50, we created a private dedicated server on my computer, I set resource rate to 3x, taming speed to 5x *after some experimentation* and adjusted the day night cycle to favor long days and short nights, we also trippled xp gain to lower the grind, My daughter makes clothes and armor, and picks berries and makes dyes.. my son has all the building engrams and is named "Bob" because he is the builder... so he builds castles, she crafts things, and we all go hunting as a group, with me primarily being the hunter / hurry dad they are eating me guy, so I would say this is kid friendly if they have some experience with minecraft / terraria or similar, and you are playing with them. maybe not so much otherwise.

There is a fair bit of dino hunting involved and will have to defend yourself against predators, but I wouldn't consider the violence excessive. There is some blood, but you can disable the blood overlay in the options if you're squeamish about your child seeing blood.

I personally bought it for my 10 year old son because he loves dinosaurs and I also got myself a copy so we can play together. I run a 2 player local server for us and we've had a ton of fun. He really loves the game. Heck, I ended up getting hooked on it myself and like to play on a PVP server online when he is asleep lol.

there are no sexual things int he game other than underwear like you saw, and the game strongly encourages you to clothe up to protect from the elements as a basic survival need.

♥♥♥♥. Now I feel bad for wasting all your time by trolling. Goodbye and sorry.

I don't think it would be all that appropriate for young children. I take it you've already seen weapons and things, and yes they are present, as well as a fair amount of blood, but not anything like organs or other insides. (Very bloodied animals after you've hit them or shot them for a while.)
This game also requires a pretty good computer to play, probably more than the minimum requirements state, so they may not be able to play with a decent framerate in the first place.

And also, as with all games, people tend to be rude and use very vulgar language, which you could limit by, as stated before, playing on a private server.

This is a sandbox game about freedom and consequences of your choices... in this game your son may be exposed to abuse, greifing, dinosaurs with ♥♥♥♥♥ painted on the side of them, signs with swear words painted on them, lude sexual references, nudity, being taken hostage, caged and tortured... the list goes on... just dont let him play online and it will be fine.

Good post. I had same setup (even my kids were same age and gender - go figure!!)

Private server though. The "community" on official servers and even some unofficial are particularly, let's say, hostile to a child's morality meter. :)
