Mosasaurus taming
Damn, I forgot to post this for a long time! When I made my first attempt to tame a Mosa, my Megalodon swam away and I was on my own with this giant bada*s - so I realised it has an awful turning-radius and just swam behind it while shooting his tail. Couldn't bring it down, because I ran out of tranq-arrows and my crossbow was only at 10% or something. So, do you think it's possible to tame a Mosa this way if you have enough stamina/movement speed/oxygen?

I was on full scuba, ate lazarus chowder, battle tartare and fria curry. I had 210% oxygen, 200% stamina + 104 or 106% movement speed.

Easier if you get it to follow you to the cave and then tranq it from the safety of the cave...

Probably quite possible but stressful as all get out. Not only do you have more stuff to keep track of (Not getting eaten, your seroundings in case of plesios/angler/sharks and timing the tranqs/aiming on the move) its just more sensible to lure it to the nearest cave. I use a sarco for taming plesios and a mastercraft xbow + a small entrence cave, shoot them in the face while they try to munch you. They will flee now and then because they cant quite reach you but plesios at least are quick to turn around if you shoot them as they are leaving then give a short chase with the sarco. Then its back inside the cave for a rinse and repeat.

Just remember not to have your ride off passive, getting bit and having your dino get into a tuffle with your would be tame is a whole bag of problems.

that is a really bad way to tame mosas. mosas have an extreme torpor drop when your tranqing so if you are going in and out of a cave the mosa is losing all that torpor you shot at it and not just that but its not like other tames where you wait 3 secs to shoot you need to just keep on pumping the tranqs into it. theres a certain point above the water where the mosa wont surface all you have to do is stay above it and sometimes lure it back to you so you don't have to chase it. of course you still have to worry about the other sea spawns so that's why you BRING protection or another player. a plesio tame should be able to take care of a plesio pod attack if its high lvl. they also don't flee neither if you stay above the area they don't cross so maybe you should go tame one without using the old plesio tame way before scuba came out. taming low lvl mosas it might be fine, but if your taming a 100-120 mosa you cant do those cave breaks at all cause you will get to the point where either your crossbow breaks cause you didn't keep tranqing it, run out of arrows, or the hp loss is way more then the torpor drop and it dies.

Uh, no, it would take hours to try and get it to poke it's head through the entrance of a cave with how huge it is and how horrible it's turning radius is, it's a 1000x easier to simply just float above the highest depth it will go up to and tranq it, if you have to go below to aggro it but you will be faster than it with flippers on.

do what our server does. use 3 normal dino gates in a row but spaced out a short bit(mabey little less then length of a dolphin) with open door at 1 end and 1 set of 3 pillars high at the back door in middle so you can have it chase you in then you get out through the pillar gate gap then swim around to close the door then its open tranq season untouched

Never seen this! But sounds like an awesome idea!

ill be getting on in a short bit so ill go down there and get a SS of 1 of them for ya :) that way you can see exactly how its setup. everyone also leaves the door unlocked so everyone can use it

How fast are Mosas compared to other sea animals/flippers?
Just don't want to bring the wrong tools if I try this out :)

It took 1 min to get it in front of the cave for me. :/

they can outrun you with flippers as long as you stay above its agro range your good just becareful of the other sea stuff especially plesios

So they are slower than plesios? I know about the stay above trick, just that the underwater trap version seems more fun :)

In my experience- I can outswim plesios, but lost the race with mossa... so as far as I know, mossas are faster than plesios

I tamed a lvl 20 Mosa the other day. I was very dissapointed, I thought it was an underwater Giganoto. But it has way less Hp and dmg, and dont even start about the way it moves. Only thing I like is his weight. I will stick with my 3 sharks for now.

sorry little late. was trying to tame a 116 plesi but finally gave up when the afk fog hit again :( this is not the cage i wanted to post here cause this is a bigger version. other 1 was smaller version like i said in post above

edit to add that i guess same thing happened to me as OP cept with 116 plesi. 250 darts in a cave gone but it didnt go to sleep so went back and got my xbow and arrows and put another 150 into it before i lost it in the stupid afk fog. in cave every 1 or 2 shots the plesi left far away :/ when trying with arrows the thing just perm ran away even when i was way under its attack zone.
