Best Dino Farmers?
What are the best Dinos for gathering all the resources? I DO NOT WANT ONLY THE BEST FOR EACH
Particularly interested in these;
  1. Flint
  2. Obsidian
  3. Wood

  • Stone seems to be Doedicurus
  • Thatch is pretty easy to get by hand, but trikes work.

Feel free to mention all teh resources if you want. Again, i do not only want the very best dinos for each resource. An example would be berries, Parasaurs, Trikes, Stegos, and Brontos.

    Thanks in advance.

Disclaimer - brontos are superior at pretty much every single resource except stone/flint/meat, but they are slower than bejeezus and usually people don't have or use them for this reason

Flint - anky
metal/crystal - anky
Wood - mammoth (yes, still better than beaver due to high weight)
meat - Rex
chitin - saber or wolf (go through caves with them, come out with stacks and stacks of chitin)
thatch - megaloceros
fiber - gorilla
stone - doedicurus
berries - bronto by FAR, but stegos/trikes/mammoths/paracer are also very good

Beaver is better than Mammoth to get wood.
( Wood, Thatch, Fiber and Stone weigh less while being carried by the Castoroides. Wood, Thatch and Fiber weigh only 20% of their usual value (10KG per, 0.4KG per, and 0.4KG per 100 respectively), while Stone weighs 50% of its usual value (25KG per 100)

Anky is best for what you seem intersted in. It'll gathe flint and obsidian. It prioritizes thatch over wood though.

Pelt is either direwolf or metal axe.
Emperor Tethys Feb 28, 2016 @ 5:15pm
This is what I use

Thatch: Procoptodon
Wood: Beaver
Fiber: Gigantopithicus
Stone: Doedicurus
Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Oil and Flint: Anky
Hide, Chitin, Keratin and Angler Gel: Saber
Pelt: Wolf (I use the Saber ATM. But when I get a wolf I will use it for Pelt since I hear wolves gather more Pelt then Sabers)
Cementing Paste: Frog
Fertilizer and Oil: Dung Beetle (I would suggest you use the oil for Gasoline. Because it wouldn't be a very good idea to use it to cook jerky)
Berries: Stego or Mammoth. But Bronto is what I will use in the future

Actually, they aren't better than beavers, beavers have a weight bonus when it comes to wood and thatch.

For beavers, a wood stack that'd normally weigh 50 only weighs 5, so yeah, beavers are better.

I think mammoths need to be given a new purpose, so much stuff they could be used for...

They're listed in the wiki: http://ark.gamepedia.com/Flint#Gathering

Just need to go thru each resource type.

There is no point to gathering obsidian. Clubbing penguins gives you all the polymer you'll need.
Beaver can carry more wood than a mammoth due to the weight reduction. 50 weight for a mammoth on a full stack, whereas that is 10 weight on a beaver. The high level mammoths my tribe has has around 700 something weight. That's about 1.4-1.5k wood if I did the math correctly. With a high level beaver that I forcetamed on SP, it was around 438 weight. I'm going to round down to 400. 10 weight for a full stack of wood, that's around 4k wood. Plus, it can gather wood without you having to be riding it.

Unless you get a really good riot chestpiece, like I did...Ascendent bp, 1.5k polymer. Are you going to be able to beat that many penguins for it without it spoiling? j/w
