Is beaver OP and unnecessary?
So what's the point in adding a new "dino" that is better in gathering wood than the mammoth?
Because as I see now, why would anyone tame a mammoth when you can tame a beaver and gather much more wood in one run?
Also, beaver workign as a smity is one of the most dumbest and ridiculus ideas ever. How is that possible? You shove metal in it's ass and it pukes out crossbows? Or you hammer ♥♥♥♥ on it's tail? This whole "mobile smithy" makes no sense and only the fanboys are happy for this.

Where do you keep all your inventory? yup in the prison vag! :P
Don't question logic in games!

Mammoth is still useful. A beaver can't fight as well as a mammoth. I mean our beaver had only 500 health while out mammoth had 2k, which would I take out when looking for wood in the swamp? Mammoth and besides even if I took the Beaver it only gets thatch from swamp trees so it would be pointless.

What you said about the smithy makes no sense lmao. Because obviously the smithy is on the saddle and not the Beaver itself. The Beaver is one of the most helpful creatures released in a while.
If you look at the saddle there is an anvil on the back of it.

Why would only the beaver had a smithy on it? A small creature (comparde to the others) why not something big like mammoth or all the other bigger dinos. Why not we put a smithy on a dodo instead?

there are Tirs of dinos much like tirs of weapons. and armor and tolls.

The mamath can gather berrys as well as wood where the bever can gather just wood.

Would you tame a Dire wolf when you know the sabber is better?
Would you tame a rex when you know a Gigga is better
Would you tame a argent if you know a quats is better.

Progression =end of comment.
SimpleSiren Feb 27, 2016 @ 11:12am
Simple Dont tame one........

Because maybe it is fitting?

Beavers are known for being hardworking animals that craft amazing structures. Having the player be able to craft near them is a nice nod to that.

Also to craft on a smitty you need to be able to stand next to it to use it. which works on a beaver but on a mammoth you would have to stand on the mammoth its back 8D

Bigger dinos? Build a smitthy on a quetz, para or bronto, tada you can craft stuff to then.

All the older creatures, like the rex, mammoth and trikes will be rebalanced later. they might get abilities/features that will make them more desirable even later in progression.

Let me correct you right away: beaver can gather berries. So your argument just got invalid, sorry.

Actually beavers can carry much (MUCH) more resources than any of the other dinos. The beaver has 2 uniq abilities so far, and seeing almost all the other older dinos, this is jsut not fair, because taming them not worth it anymore, just a waste of time, thus the devs are stealing the taming enjoyment of other dinos from us.

I think this is just a wild troll released in the wild forums, but that could just be me. Beavers eat wood. Would you rather it gather stone or something?
Kae Feb 27, 2016 @ 11:30am
The Beaver is meant to be a higher tier gatherer than the mammoth. Previous animals will be going through a TLC pass later in development.

The Beaver is harder to find than the Mammoth.

The Beaver also takes longer to tame with rapid torpor drop and likes Galli eggs.

eh since mammoths are hard to get from the winter area because of all the dinos and the cold, a beaver is 10x easier for me to tame than a mammoth
Noire Feb 27, 2016 @ 11:35am
If you don't like it don't tame it then? Everyone has goals so saying it's taking the taming enjoyment of other dinosaurs from "us" doesn't quite add up for everyone. I want to tame a max level of every species male and female eventually so that would include mammoths and beavers.

True, beavers CAN gather berries, but about the same amount as a parasaur. A trike can easily gather more than it, not to mention the mammoth, whose superior weight allows it to carry many times more berries than the beaver. No one would use the beaver to farm berries.

And the beavers can only carry more wood, thatch, and fiber than other dinos (kind of stone, too, but not a huge improvement due to low base weight). Any other resource weighs the same for them (and, honestly, how often will you be out farming fiber with a beaver next to you?).

As has already been mentioned in this post and MANY times by the devs - ALL the dinos will be getting TLC updates before launch. Right now, they are focused on adding in all the new dinos, and later the older dinos will be improved.
