NPC in Single Player?
Hey Devs/Modders, My kids and I like to play single play but seems a little dull because its just us. While we could do multiplayer online, everyone is already established and OP to the max. So my question is, is it possible to make a mod or even for the devs to make NPC's that harvest and build(To an extent of course) in single player? Not saying to do it right now, just wondering if it's even a possibility?

I don't answer for the devs but it's highly unlikely. For one thing, Ark is MP with an SP ability and secondly, it's a huge undertaking for only a portion of the playerbase. Developing player AI to be a reasonable facismile is difficult time consuming stuff.

What I might suggest though is setting up a private server. "Dad" can be the NPC and make all the bases he likes. Of course, simultaenous play would require 2 (or more) computers.

You could try looking up the 'Bush People' mod on the workshop too. I think the npc's are hostile though, and I'm not sure if they actually build yet.

NPC in ark survival is the dinos, The Forest has NPC's of cannibal nature, and is far superior in terms of the singleplayer experience by a country mile.

I have almost stopped playing ark survival because its simply not a singleplayer game in any form any longer. I don't even know why they bother making it an option. Ark is a PvP mulitplayer game only in reality.

Try the forest, within a single day of playing singleplayer you will be much happier !!!

I can't advertise here, but add and PM me if you are looking for a friendly pvpve server with good rates and fun mods. We barely have too many established people (only 2 tribes have large bases, all others are pretty small time), and considering that the admins run those 2 tribes, we don't even have a technical alpha tribe atm. PvPvE :)

They do build bases in bush people mod.

Great idea , but sadly really nothing out there to fill your criteria . Could always look up a unofficial server that has been recently wiped . I'm guessing upon how you want to interact with other players, other than kill them tells me that you'd like to play pve more than pvp. I play on a server with some nice ppl , just throw me a FI .

The devs have stated they will NOT make npc humans. They've said they will not do it. It's left up to modders. The bush people mod is the only one I am aware of that adds tamable NPC humans.. I won't use it tho cause it took a good idea and went nuts with a lot of stupid stuff like fire giants and other garbage.. BUT i give the creator a lot of props as he's worked out a LOT of stuff like bases for them, spawns and so on..

Tho this game is focused on multiplayer, a full singleplayer experience is coming in the form of ruins and story / ascension / boss arenas, etc. The best idea is to have a private server with a competant Admin who can go around and make content to raid.. I think you could force tame dinos into the tribe who owns the 'dungeon' content and use those as stationary guards.

The caves seem to be the only real challenge once you get set up currently

i run an open pve server on a huge map look up new caprica

Doubt this would ever happen unless they were cavemen that agro you. It isn't an RPG like skyrim it is an MMO.

If you want more resources turn up your rates. If you want interaction and not to die play PVE.

You are SO wrong here, it's hard to know where to begin telling you how wrong you are in your total absolute wrongness.

It is moving AWAY from MP, as more and more people turn to single player to keep playing. The fact that most of the MP player base are trolls, griefers, and alpha tribes who do nothing but kill new players because they are bored, and the recent addition of cages with no way to even kill yourself so YOU CAN KEEP PLAYING THE GAME is driving this -- any mechanic that stops a player from playing indefinitely is beyond stupid.

But more than that, you can't play alone in MP, it is simply not doable. Unless you are in a tribe, the game makes you a SLAVE...gotta log on and feed the dinos, gotta log on and check the base, gotta log in and make sure you have spark powder so your stuff doesn't all go bad, etc., etc., In SP, when you log out, TIME STOPS, and you can go to the beach for a week, have a LIFE, play other games, all secure in the knowledge that some troll hasn't wrecked your base, your dinos are still alive, the food hasn't rotted, etc.

And then there is the other moronic, unnecessary mechanic, that when you log out in MP, your body stays there asleep, unlike actual, well-thought-out survival games, where when you log out, you actually LOG OUT. Not an issue in SP, but in MP, it is a game-killing (and a player-killing) mechanic that is even worse that another player being able to restrain you and effectively stopping you from playing.

I think some NPC's would help this game tremendously. Even with PvP it feels empty, broken and exploited. NPC's may provide some order in a game that needs just that extra bit of immersion and persistent activity. Human players are undisciplined, uncontrollable, focus deficit lunatics generally speaking - which breaks all form of role play. I'm only speaking from experience with local servers though.

Imagine an NPC you can command to collect some resources for you, or do some basic protection, or handle trade/merchant stuff etc... I think that would be neat.

Extinction Core adds human NPCs that are basically pvp tribes. They're not unbelivably hard to fight, there not that annoying, and they have decent drops.

need them NPC in SP vanilla...
