Why doesn't my auto turret work?

I have it on my roof right in the corner right above my front door. 1 foundation and 6 walls high. Range is set to high and targeting is set to anything.

I hit a trike and made him follow me to my front door and the turret never shot at it.

Yes, the turret is powered on.

It has to be set to ALL creatures, It's default setting is players and tamed animals.

Also don't waste ammo on wild creatures. If you want wild creatures near your base dead. Get bio turrets

As long as it has bullets then it's probably just too high. They don't have a lot of ability to aim down, and 6 walls high is REALLY high for a trike. If you're going for ground targets leave them on the ground or much closer. Where you have it the only things it'll be good for are brontos, gigas, and flyers.

It may be too high, I did this with plant x, it wouldn't shoot anything directly below it.

That would explain it not shooting... [Edit], the lack of ammo that is. I've got turrets waaaaay higher than 6 tiles up that can shoot straight down when positions perfectly.
