Scariest sounds in ARK
As we all know, some of the creatures in ARK can be quite scary in appearance, especially when they catch you off guard.

But sometimes the sounds they make can be even worse...

Is it the speedy footsteps of a raptor chasing you down? Or perhaps the stomps of a charging carno? Maybe the surprisingly fast steps of a plodding turtle? It could even be a sound from pvp or your own character, whatever sound you dread hearing the most!

For example, a friend of mine won't tame scorpions for kibble, simply because he's terrified of the idle s-s-sounds they make!

For me, it's the stealthy "slushing" of a wild titanoboa out in the swamp, usually when I'm gathering... High level ones can knock you out surprisingly quick!

The honourable mention goes to raptor claus's "hohoho". I never expect it, and it always surprises me in the middle of a calm night... :)

What are the sounds that scare YOU the most?

Every step of any creature in the dark when you have to wait to tame an unconcious animal and your base is miles away...

"AHHH! Carno! Wait... Just an Trike..."

Not really something about the sound, but one of the most scariest moments for me was when I was at night in my wodden base with my tamed dodos. Campfire in the background and their eyes follow you with this grim look... Like they're possessed by demons or something... Only missing was an unholy background music...

Compies, actually. There's always a moment of confusion as you wonder how an icthy got above land without dying before a swarm of little monsters washes over you.

Alone in a forest at the base of a mountain, you hear the distance footsteps of a Parasaurolophus, the rumble of a Ankylosaurus, and the soft coos of a Dodo. You stand there peacefully, taming a lovely golden and black Argentavis confident of your safe surroundings. The ground starts to shake, the trees snap and part ways, and the distinct noise of colossal foot steps. Knowing the fate of your tame is already sealed, you run to your trusty Pteranodon as a Giganotosaurus burst through the trees like a freight train. It dives on your half tamed Argentavis and destroys it in one bite, and turns its attention to you as your run for dear life to you Pteranodon. You run as the ground shakes violently and the only noise louder then its footsteps is your heartbeat. You jump on your Pteranodon just as it starts opening its jaws and fly up through the tree line into the safely of the sky. You look back at the towering terror gazing hungrily at its denied snack, realizing how close you came to losing everything. Yes this actually has happened :P

Sounds don't scare me but they really do add atmosphere, the music is really well done in this game i do enjoy the sound track. The combination of both the intense music and realistic roars with the ground shaking foot stomping of large dinos charging all add to the flavor of being in a prehistoric era.

The sound of being so close to death you hear the strange beeping noise and odd noises in your ears. In the middle of the night, having barely escaped with your life. Running (if the painful broken-body movement speed could be considered anything close). The night close in around you, but you can see the lights of your base. Just a few more seconds and you will be safe, just a few steps and you will be inside and recovering. That's when you hear the bugs -- too late.

The sound of water when you died nowhere near water and you had all your best gear on you. The sound that says your body will never ever be found.

Oviraptor... Everytime I hear an Oviraptor I think that I will die for a second. Then I remember that the sound is coming from a friendly dino.
ive never really had the scary sound thing happen to me in ark..mainly because i play with headphones on most of the time and spend a lot....LOT of time looking around.

Have to say that the carno's thundering steps are the scariest noises. Always gets my heart going when I hear them. Gigas terrify me by sight, even when I'm flying and well out of their reach.

The gurgle grumble of an anglerfish sneaking up on me in the nice serene ocean.

Being underwater on a Mosasaur that has a platform saddle and grill, transferring prime to cook. As you transfer it, the whishing sound of water occurs as a shark or angler is sitting right next to you, about to open its jaws. Your Mosa is on neutral and will make a long awkward turn unless you happen to move to the saddle fast enough to take control. I haven't actually been successfully attacked yet, but that whishing noise tells me that I gotta move within a split second.
