Split screen was already announced for PC, see this thread, it specifically says it's coming to xbox1 and PC.

Again, just wondering when the devs plan to bring it to PC. My son doesn't mind playing with controller.

Awesome news. Would definitely get this game when they add splitscreen in the PC version.

Still surprised people here are all like "how can you play splitscreen on PC? 2 keyboard and mouse, it doesnt work."

Let me help you understand what I went through to get the best couch PC gaming:

- Get a xbox one or 360 wireless adapter
- Buy 2 to 4 xbox one or 360 controller
- Connect HDMI to your TV
- Have a friend or family member to play local multiplayer

Is that so hard to set up couch gaming on PC?
I would like to know myself since I've been wanting to play with my brother locally for a while.

For those who have aspergers and need to be explained how split screen on pc works: First, you take an hdmi cable. Then, you hook it up to a TV. Finally, you connect 2 controllers to your PC. Works exactly like a console.

You could use a dual controller supported monitor and run two pc's to the one monitor if you really wanted it on one screen. At that point, why?

What's so surprising? if the xbone can do it, why not a pc? Currently, and to my knowledge, the xbox version is better optimized than the pc version. If the devs optimize the pc version, a pc, say with a gtx 970, should have no problem running two instances of the game at the same time. Remember, the xbox is doing it.

I personally think it would be a great feature.

Hey!

What games are you using this for?

I played borderlands 2 on pc using software called softxpand. It basically created two virtual workstations using one computer. One person to each screen, keyboard, and mouse. It was great! However, to my knowledge, the software does not support windows 10, which I am now using.

How many games have you used this for? I wouldn't mind playing some games with my bro.

I'm not sure what local split screen has to do with servers. The idea would be to play locally, or without using a server, with another friend. Also, the xbox is doing it.

I'd love to see ultra wide screen settings so we can have ark spanning across 2 or even 3 screens for a nice FOV that goes well beyond 90 degrees. Humans have close to a 180 degree FOV with peripheral vision, so 3 monitors would do this nicely. To allow this though, it would mean it would have to be possible to re position any element of the GUI.

As far as split screen goes, PC's were not meant for 2 people to use simultaneously since there's only 1 keyboard and 1 mouse per PC. In addition, split screen gives too much away if you're playing PVP. You can see where the other player is hiding and waiting to ambush you. It's a stupid idea for PVP.

I'll agree that it's a stupid idea for pvp, but what about pve? Split screen sounds like great idea.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Splitscreen is not in the Upcoming features in the pinned post above this thread so I guess it's not going to come soon if it comes at all.

PC games rarely have split screen since there is this thing called LAN and most people have laptops nowadays so they mostly get together and play LAN on their laptops instead of having to deal with half a screen and how are they going to play? 2 keyboards and 2 mouses to 1 PC? Don't your kids have PCs?

You can use Steam Family Share to let your kids play ...

Most peolpe have laptops that play ark i think not. And most kids prefer controllers.
Would love to just go out and buy another gaming rig for the kids, why not get the three of them one each.

Honestly, most people don't even have desktops that can run Ark well. Who has money to buy 2-5 gaming machines, let alone laptops? Steam share doesn't let multiple people play the same game, on the same account, and at the same time. smh...

Whoops... Just realized I posted on a lot of comments. My bad.

Go to Steam store page> Games > Narrow by players *check Local Coop*. You'll find all the games that can be played locally either through splitscreen or same screen.

Any news from the Devs? I bought the game after playing split screen with a friend on Xbone, then immediately refunded it after learning PC doesn't have local coop yet. I want to support the game, but without being able to play within arms reach of another person it just isn't nearly as much fun.
