is the industrial forge worth it?
like i have a quetzal with 8 refining forges on its back. i get about 800 ingots per run. will the forge make up for this? its cost just seems so ridiculous tbh.

The Industrial Forge is an advanced crafting station that is used to refine Metal into Metal Ingot and Oil into Gasoline at a much quicker speed (20x) than the regular Refining Forge.

It does make quick work of turning metal to ingots, but honestly, I wouldn't care if I didn't have it. the industrial cooker on the other hand, I can't live without that thing

If you can afford it and saving a ton of time waiting is something you're looking for, yes, it absolutely is worth it. We had 8 at one point too and it was a full time job just keeping them things going. Like you said, it is a ton of material to build plus the thing is freakin huge, I still think it's worth it.

the issue ive run into is. the cost of the machine is the entire foundation of our second base which we are working on turning into metal.

The Industrial Forge can replace 20 refining forges and uses gas (very efficiently). It is extremely fast, and gas is way easier than sparkpowder (1 gas for 15 minutes vs 20 forges with 15 sparkpowder each - 300 sparkpowder - to get the same result) However, you would not be able to put it on your quetzal, so if you want a mobile forge, you still have to go for the refining forges.

I used to have a quetzal loaded with refining forges, 16 of them to be exact. Not even considering the time it took to stock the refining forges with fuel, it was still considerably slower. It takes much less time flying back to my base than filling and emptying the 16 forges while on the mountain. If you have any plans on building with metal at all, the industrial forge is well worth the cost.

My question would be how often do you find yourself waiting for the forges to finish (or need the metal asap)? Another thing to consider is I don't think the industrial forge is really meant for smaller groups of players. Ideally when I was playing in a big tribe we were pumping stuff out as fast as it would re-spawn on the map. In my smaller group of friends we dont have nor do I feel we need it.

honestly not that often but mostly i just afk currently til its done while waiting for eggs. im about to start looking for a giganatosaurus to tame solo with kibble XD but my tribe is growing rather rapidly and im the leader. so i can see how it could be useful later on.

Destorying tribes industrial forges provides the greatest feeling.

Don't forget the joys of using standard forges with wood, means more charcoal to go with the sparkpowder for gunpowder (one reason I never used the industrial stuff, there is a tradeoff)

You can put wood in an Industrial Forge and it makes charcoal at like 1 per second, so...
