Grappling Hook Details?
Anyone have a chance to try this out yet? I'm at work and won't be able to jump on today.

What are the costs for crafting and repairing? Is a new hook needed every time you shoot? Do the mechanics work well?

Can't wait to try it out!

There are several videos on YouTube of it already; just have to take a moment and look first

I realize that, but I was hoping to ask the forum community here what their thoughts are.

you use the normal crossbow. the hooks are used like ammo and wasted upon using. you can't pick them up.
they're also wasted if you're standing to far from the target
they cost
3 stone arrows
1 Cementing Paste
9 metal ingot
2 thatch
35 fiber

the metal ingots are a bit to much imo. its not really expensive but enough to not fool around with it.
kinda hoped to be using it all the time.

WHAT!? WHY!?

You real it in, it isn't a barbed hook, it is just a claw, why is it wasted!?

GDAMNIT this is the one damn thing I was afraid of

Game changer my ass if we have to carry around 40 hooks everywhere.

Hey devs you want it to be fun JUST GIVE IT NORMAL DURABILITY!

Agree. Even when having full access to the volcano for mining. That's still only about 200 shots from 1,800 ingots (Industrial cooker costs!). If they halve it or reduce it to 2-3 it would be much more sensible.

It's for balance in pvp - the added weight will hopefully keep things from getting it of hand with everyone turning into Spider-Man

was disappointed aswell, 9 ingot for 1 shot, also 40 engram points, wat..
BS the "PVP balance" argument. A level 1 bird or frog can already get you over any wall.

The hook is a really poor use of resources and carry weight for a gimmick. Why expend metal to climb ONCE in limited situations when you can FLY on a dino for free with no restrictions?

If it was a seperate item from the crossbow with a durability bar instead of consuming ammo, it would be a different story. As it stands, it's not worth the metal, engrams and time to craft as a single use item.

stop complaining guys..... its best worth cost being at end game i dont even care its cost.... every thing is easy to afford
1. get industrial forge get tons of metal in minutes
2. kill kairukus for polymer
3. go to east coast near swamp to get tons of cementing paste or go nuts with a meglaceros in the chitin cave and craft cementing paste
4. get ur monkey on wander(if u hav a big base) and get tons of fiber
5. take the same meglaceros to get thach
do all this 15 min twice a day and in few days u will be ready to rock n roll for end game resources, dont cry like kids!

I'm at end-game. I still don't deem the costs worth it though. It's only a bit shy of a ballista bolt. I still stand by halving the costs as it would make it more reasonable.

Also, why the hell does this weigh 1 and a damn ballista bolt (many feet long) weigh .4?!
There are all kinds of interesting uses for things like construction (pull myself up to that piece of wall I need to replace or demolish), exploration, etc. that I am afraid I'll be reluctant to do because of the 9 ingots and 1 paste parts of the costs. I really don't mind that they're consumable, I just feel like instead of making them "three uses each" they should make them cost a third as much. (Or make it so you get back 2/3 of the materials every time one breaks, maybe?)

I don't know of any practical uses but it sure is damn fun:) love grabbing people off their mounts and reeling them in lol
