Yep....doing that now.
Fence 'em in and set passive bud. Only way. Sorry for your loss(es).
No, "attack my target" means they attack the moment you hit something.
Neutral means they attack something that hits you. Or any other friendly target. Or themselves.
However, the moment that you or one of your tames is attacked and takes damage, then all of your neutral animals will join in.
It's easy to miss the distinction, as usually damage goes both ways unless you one hit your target or it flees.
Of course, this means that the habitat I set up out on Dead Island was quite exciting for awhile... until I forced the local carnivors to give up.
LOL, don't take this post too seriously. It's a video series I'm doing for my channel. Still, surprisingly, I found a way to make it work. Here's a link to the 6 video playlist in question if you're interested or feel like a chuckle. The actual annexing of Dead Island occurs in episodes 3, 4, and 5.

Also not a good idea to let them roam, yeah it looks cool...but they could glitch out of the fence. At least on neutral they are okay but on aggressive they may find a way to get out. This is on a multiplayer server, SP it is alright to do, I believe.
