1. You didnt set your tames on passive and they either were attacked by something (and went into fleeing mode or defensive) or they attacked something(due to being in aggressive stance essentially). This then can cause you to lose track of them very quickly.
2. They got snagged on a tree, rock, bush etc and you lost sight of them.
3. Your dino fell through the map or you were in a place where you were intentionally under the terrain mesh. Ark has an anti meshing system that will purge dinos that go under the mesh unless you disabled that feature. This was implemented years ago to combat exploits, especially in pvp.
4. You are using mods that causes a conflict/issue. If you are using mods, then you'll need to list all mods by name and in their specific load order to determine what mods may be issue inducing. Unlikely this is your issue since you've stated you're new and likely havent delved into mods yet.
5. You adjusted play settings or ini. files or both in such a way that the dinos you were using are in conflict with the game play and the system purged them. (unlikely due again to you being new and likely not having done this nor matching the description of the circumstances that led to the issue.
And the list goes on. Likely its either points 1 or 2. You may find them later randomly. But then again you may not.
Once you become more comfortable with play and perhaps decide to get into playing with mods, there are lots of mods that help not only to track but to bring tames to you that you may have lost track of. Just remember to use up to date mods and not ones that are broken and abandoned of course.
Best of luck.
I only play with a few mods, and number 2 on the list is a pet finder mod. Your pet will get stuck a lot. If you move too fast, and they lag behind you, they will disappear when you leave render range too. They'll stay where you left them behind, and won't reappear until you get within render range. That happens a lot once you get some of the faster dinos, especially flyers.
So it was points 1 and 2. Glad that got sorted then.
