Stutter walk/rubber band on servers still not fixed?
I've had this rubber band stutter step happening in my game for several weeks. I have been dealing with it but its really annoying after all this time. its really bad when I first join my unofficial server until I fast travel or die but it is still slightly there even after that. I've done every fix I know of from reddit, google, YouTube, forums like this one and still no fix. my friends on the same server have it but its a lot more manageable than mine and they don't need to fast travel to make it manageable. my setup is far beyond what the game requires with almost double most things and my internet is high speed and has no issues with other games. this is the same with servers with 50 ping and below and I have tried several but it doesn't stutter in singe player. I was hoping this was a thing that was a game problem they were going to fix and so far almost a month later and after this large update on December 8th its still here. I am worried it is my PC but its only 2 months old with all high quality components and no heating issues, tested with msi afterburner and other tests. I wanted to make this post again because after the dec 8 update the stutter was gone for like 5 mins then game crashed and when I came back it was back exactly how it was before. if anyone has a fix or advise I would appreciate it

Your computer and internet settings have little to do with that usually. It's server latency.

And I've lost count of the number of people who brag about how fast their internet access is.... and then later on mention they're playing over wifi. Doesn't matter if your internet is bullettrain speed, if the last step is basically two tin cans and a piece of string. You want good speeds, don't use wifi.

This has not been true for several years now. In fact the latest wireless standard referred to as wifi 7 is capable of up to 46100 Mb/s Your internet connection is not going to saturate that network. Not even close.

OP if you are rubber-banding there is something going on between you and the server. Best course of action is to find a server with lower latency.

1. Bandwidth isn't even the same metric as latency, which is a huge culprit for this.
2. Most people don't have the newest wifi, hell I'd wager the vast majority use whatever junk their ISP 'rent' them. Not to mention their platform of choice would have to support it as well.

1. If you've verified the integrity of local game files go to the next step.

2. For the sake of accuracy and clarity, go to the steam help menu, click, system information, and then copy paste all that here so we can see specifically what steam detects for your computer and any potential discrepancies that may have relevance.

3. If you are using mods, list all mods by name and in their specific load order.

4. Since you mentioned you're using MSI Afterburner, dont. Its been a known culprit of issues for many years with Ark. Remove it. Also if you're overclocking dont. If you are using nvidia geforce experience's in game overlay(rest of the program is fine just not the overlay) dont.

So start with those basics and lets see from there if there's further anomalies.

I was frustrated for a long time that for some reason I always had high latency when playing Space Engineers, but not any other games. After a bunch of research I found out that long story short my ISP hates Space Engineers specifically. Maybe your ISP doesn't like Ark?
