Good Wood Gathering Dino?

Done a bit of research and so far I've found the best candidates to be the Beaver, Thorny Dragon, and Mammoth. Beaver and Thorny both seem to have the best wood gathering attacks while Mammoth has the best wood weight reduction. I mainly play on single player so I'm looking to just stick with one creature if I can. Which one do you guys would work best? Or if there's another wood gatherer I should look into. Thanks!

Therizinosaur is a beast at wood gathering. kind of a pain to tame them if you aren't well equipped but well worth the investment for what they can do

The stego is now also a viable wood gatherer, in addition to being a great fighter and thatch/berry gatherer too. They're also real easy to tame compared to theris or mammoths. Only downsides are that they don't have a weight reduction for wood like mammoths and beavers and they're slow.
Stego is all around a good choice until/unless you decide to get a beaver/mammoth/theri

I feel like a mammoth would be fun to have. Plus the huge weight reduction would help a lot. I'm guessing Thornies aren't the best way to go seeing as no one has said anything about them yet?

Mammoth get more thatch than wood now. They use to be my go to for gathering wood. Now it's better to use a Beaver.

Ride along on a mount with a chain saw then dump the wood into the mount or following argents.
Otherwise all in one... mammoth is my preferred due to the inventory.

Even if its % gathering rate is potentially lower than theri... It can carry way way more.

On a single player game I find I have to focus more on a universal mount than specifics. Yes the beaver is great for wood, moose for thatch, doedic(sp) for stone, but in a tribe one person can mount each of these and gather for everyone. In solo or SP, it makes no sense to take the time to tame a harvest specific dino to make 3 runs or 5 runs. the therizino is my go to mount when I can effectivly tame it without it using my gonads for soup. Harvests a fair amount of wood and thatch, but does a good job for meats and berries as well. Imprinted it can be a devestaing mount.

I agree with therizins for the same reasons other have given. Good, general mount, not only for wood, but mainly because there are a lot of dinos that won't attack you while riding one, which makes them great for exploring on foot.

They are easy to trap using pillars spaced so that you can get through but the therizin can't. Since they are usually found in forests, you can also make use of the trees as natural pillars. For some odd reason, they never seem to back up, even though they can do so very easily when tamed.

They do require a lot of tranking to knock them out and keep them down, though.

Guys don't sleep on Stegos. They are actually amazing after the latest TLC. They can gather a ton of wood, thatch and berries. Also they are having a pretty solid base stats, giving defensive buffs against other dinos, defending the rider from incoming damage, offensive buffs against armor, have a slow down effect on enemies and also can causes bleed damage + they can impale and immobilize enemies with their tail. They are easily the best starter dinos now.

Theri for sure. Fast and can fight if you run into trouble. Also super duper fast for thatch, fiber and berries. Awesome dino to have.
