Dino Levels, and training? (Vanilla settings)
New player here, looking for some info on this topic. Here's what I know so far (if correct):

- Wild dinos level automatically on the map without your intervention over time, and spend their points randomly.

- A player can manually train their dino, and spend points how they see fit. On top of wild levels, or starting from level 1.

Now, the questions, based on what I think I know lol:

A) Do manually trained levels stack on wild levels increasing a dino's max lvl, and potential? I see players looking for high level dinos, so I can only assume this is true, otherwise it would be better to tame a level 1, and completely customise them to max level.

B) Do manual levels have a hard cap? This would mean if I did tame a lvl 1 and manually level'd them to max, the max would be far less than the example in question A? Far less potential as well.

Thanks all!:steamhappy:

No they spawn in at a set level (based on difficulty setting, 150 max wild level on official servers), with randomly distributed stat points.

Yes this is indeed somewhat correct, you get bonus levels from taming (post-taming based on your Taming Effectiveness). And you get extra levels based on the experience you gain with said creature, as you kill and craft things on/near it.

Yes they do stack, and yes that is why people prefer higher level tames, because of the higher base stat values you could potentially get (its still a lot of RNG, a 135 tame can have some specific better stats then a 150 tame in some cases).

Yes you can only get 74 (i think atm, i could be off a level or 2) via normal leveling.

Ty! So to clarify on taming bonus levels, you can get a max of half of the current dino's level with a perfect tame, meaning if a trike is lvl 20, I get 10 more random levels with a perfect tame?

Also, crafting, fighting, harvesting (anything you can do with your dino) is all in the same category when considering the 74 levels of manual leveling?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the patience, and info! :)

All done with edits lol

Both yes and yes, perfect tamed 150 would tame out at 224 because you know math (so for a level 20 its most likely 9 levels, but technically 50% yes) ><
For taming Dododex (website or app) is your friend, it helps with all these questions.

And anything that gains exp is normaly shared, considering your most likely in a tribe despite being solo. So anything that gain's exp, even when not mounted, is shared with other things within said sharing range. So you can passively level your dino's by having them in range, but after a certain point obviously the only realy way to do it is to kill things like Alpha's etc
