so yes ascendant saddles add on more armor to your tames but this is very important especially when it comes to fighting bosses, but on an Ankylosaurus it just means it has a better chance of surviving in battle....and besides if you want your anky to mine more metal just lvl up it's melee (besides for an anky all your really gonna lvl up on it is melee & weight)
In the end, it doesn't help a whole lot in general day to day arking, but it's still useful for boss fighting and the occasional unseen rex or theri that came out of the forest.
The exception to this is the rollrat's saddle, which has a durability stat that scales with quality.
best I could think of anyway, besides the only reason that saddle loses durability is because of the Roll Rat's ability to roll like a massive bowling ball....and i've had many occasions where it ended up turning into a giant game of pinball
