Ascendant saddle?

What do upgraded saddles in do? Just extra armor?
For example, would an ascendant ankylo saddle increase metal mining or just give him extra armor?

no, higher quality saddles just mean's the less damage your tame takes from other creatures if the saddle has high armor (and generally ascendant quality items have very high stats...but in exchange cost a lot more materials to make)

so yes ascendant saddles add on more armor to your tames but this is very important especially when it comes to fighting bosses, but on an Ankylosaurus it just means it has a better chance of surviving in battle....and besides if you want your anky to mine more metal just lvl up it's melee (besides for an anky all your really gonna lvl up on it is melee & weight)

There's not even a dmg stat on saddles through which such an increase in harvesting would occur... Weapons, such as the pick, are what you're thinking of.

Just extra armor. That extra armor can be very significant though. Different damage types are effected differently by armor, but a rex for example will have its damage reduced to 50% when hitting a 25 armor saddle and its damage will be reduced to 20% when hitting a 100 armor saddle, so the 100 armor saddle is 2.5x as strong as a 25 armor saddle.
In the end, it doesn't help a whole lot in general day to day arking, but it's still useful for boss fighting and the occasional unseen rex or theri that came out of the forest.
The exception to this is the rollrat's saddle, which has a durability stat that scales with quality.

yea cause their the only creature to have a saddle that can break....this is mainly because of their ability to fire off like an oversized version of Sonic the Hedgehog if he looked like a giant bowling ball

best I could think of anyway, besides the only reason that saddle loses durability is because of the Roll Rat's ability to roll like a massive bowling ball....and i've had many occasions where it ended up turning into a giant game of pinball
