66k servers and just under 24k players... There is the problem since there is 66k servers, the player base is spread out.

Most people playing on their own private servers.

This game should be removed from Steam for faking numbers. There is no way that the game that has at least 90,000 players combined with Epic Games only has 140 online players playing on unofficial servers here in Europe. There is no way 90,000 players are just playing private or singleplayer ARK in 2023.

Look at Rust it has 110,000 players and you feel it since every server is full and there are ton of 600/600 players not to mention official servers.

You are not doing anything wrong this game is just botted to oblivion. The actual numbers of players in this game is closer to 7,000 and around 150-400 for PvP/PvE

There is an absolute ton of private and single player servers roaming around atm, official dead, ASA is hopefully around the corner, and many are just blatantly taking breaks from the game until ASA is decidedly released or at least mentioned by the devs.

A lot of servers are clustered with more maps then players so that one way the server number grows. Then you can't look at the total players online since those don't take into account of timezones.

if they are inflating numbers how does that help them ? just lets them know that if they release this game that they wont have the numbers on sales ..

Fake hype. It attracts new players because they see that the game is thriving and they want to buy it too.

How would that even work? The official servers (which did have RMT problems going on) are all closed now, and unofficial clusters are going to be too scattered for that sort of thing to be fiscally viable. The only RMT going on in Ark these days is simply the server owners themselves selling admin spawned creatures. Which of means they have enough people playing on those clusters for people to want that sort of advantage for PVP.

Considering the official servers aren't around anymore, and people have to pay for ASE servers now, there is *every way* that *at least* 90,000 players are playing on private servers or single player. As someone who exclusively played on private servers and single player (basically only SP these days) for the vast majority of ASEs development lifetime, I personally know of at least 20 others that play like I do. And I'm just one random, obscure dude. Now calculate that across the ARK player base.

I would hazard a guess they've now adapted to cater to clientele playing exclusively on private servers that allow uploads/downloads and/or single-player. I mean...I'd just do it myself, because I can tweak my own game settings...but some people have more money than time or sense.
