Dinos ecaping through fences/walls
I have several enclosures, some made out of fences (metal, wood, 5 high) and some out of walls (metal, 6 high). Now the following happens: I play casually, I go to somewhere to farm some resources or even stay at my base and do stuff and then I see some Dinos walking around outside the encloures or I get the message "Your Oviraptor ... was killed by ..." (for example). So this happend to me now with Titanoboas, Oviraptors, Dodos, Turtles, Dilos. And I'm really afraid that this will happen with a precious Dinosaur, so please please please if there is something I can do to avoid this please tell me._. (The Dinos are set to wander because of abilitys and the more realistic feeling)

We've had issues with our Dimes escaping their water pen, that is until we converted the pen to using stone railings. Before we tried thatch, wood, and stone walls only to occasionally have a Dime glitch out. We have yet to have our wandering Dimes glitch through stone railings. Hope this helps.

If you want lots of info about it, in the forums you can search for "wander", "disappear" or "render" and prettymuch every post you'll find talks about dinos walking through the walls.

To put it basically, when you load in an area, the dinos appear before the walls exist and can walk right through them.

Can't really avoid it because it's a core engine problem.

Dinos walk threw walls because the wall doesn't exist for a breif moment while rendering an area.
Same thing causes eggs to fall threw floor.

if you go far enough away from your base for it to "stream" out....and then come back...sometimes the game will get the dino's previous location wrong and put them back outside the enclosure....this can especially happen if they are on wander. not sure how they glitch out if you stay close or inside your base though...never had that happen yet. Unfortunatly theres no fix for this until the devs do another pass on the rendering issues

Thank you all alot! That did help me, although it is very "stupid" that there is no fix for this. You say, that the Dinos will load before the structures, so what if I put some Titanoboas for example all around at the inside of my enclosure (not on wandering) as a kind of barricade?
it could also help to not leave them on wander while you're away.... also, putting the oviraptor into a cage while wandering might help with that.. and tbh if there was a render fix it would be great.. but it would impact server/game performance drastically :/ because the only fix I know of would be to have the whole map rendered at all times..

I've heared today that you can over encumber them by putting a lot of things in their inventory. That way you can leave them on wondering and they won't move.

Or as said, cage them. Both work, however the first one seems less cruel..

There's also getting creative. Like setting up shop on an island, at least the land based ones won't cross water. Or maybe put a perimeter fence around your base and pens, as a second barrier in case they break through the first. Or just explain it away as more realistic, real animals do love breaking out and going around causing a headache, and potentially a heartache when things go wrong as well.
But ultimately, I believe that no matter how many precautions you try to take, there's always a real (though rare) risk of losing tames, even without having them on wander.

For the most part, faster dinos glitch worse.

I have had an alpha raptor be on side of a B. Gate. I fly away, come back, and it is on the other side.

But, of course, if my best TRex ends up stopped on where a rock is waiting to respawn, it goes poof with no message.

I am on building a new enclosure right now, so, one side is a cliff (I hope they won't climb up), the other side is the ocean and the two other sides are gonna be 3 layers of metal fences so they have to glitch through 3 fences, that should be enough :D and yeah I'm gonna put the Oviraptors and the Dung Beetles in cages. Thanks to all of you

I have had Ovis escape boxes, fences, etc. Nothing kept them contained, except encumbering them.

Yeah I could also put all my Dinos on stay and let them stand around but I like the realisitic touch it gives the game if the Dinos walk around you know

What about when Dinos climb up a natural rock wall?

We've had several dinos done that in our server, our base is located in the hidden lake. . . and some of our dinos managed to climb up cliff.

Never heard of this before.

Even my Dodos escape the pen because of this. Frogs, too. They are very fast.
