Possible to host multiple servers on one machine?
Hi Guys, need a bit of help here.

I host a private server for my friends on my computer using the easy '.bat file' method.

We're wanting to start anew with a fresh server BUT we still want to keep the old one as well.

Is this possible using the .bat file method? or is there something else I should do?

Any advice would be extremely appreciated

Yes, I run 3 ark servers on a single Win10 PC. It uses about 5Gb of memory and it's i7 processor averages around 15% per game instance. You'll need to specify different ports per instance and forward them all to the server... e.g. 27020, 7778 and 32331 for your second server and so forth.

Oh yeah, I have a separate game install for each instance using Steam CMD commands in a batch file.

I only need to run one at a time. I don't need to run multiple servers at once.

Storm - what's the best way to host another and keep the old one intact? (preferably using the simple .bat file method)

I think you can copy your save from old server then make a fresh server

Any idea how to do this?

Was this discussion ever completed? I am currently wondering the same thing.

I want to play with another group of friends without making a whole new separete install; is there any way that you found, Wupster, to get what you wanted to work?

For what it's worth, that Ark Server Manager (ASM) tool is really good and makes running servers (even multiple servers on the same machine) very easy.

You can take your existing server and "import" it into ASM. Their forum is pretty good when it comes to learning how to set it up and once I took the time to switch from the old method to using ASM, I'll never go back!

I am running multiple servers at once, I just have full server copies of the game repeated for each.
It is only 5.4 gb for a second server on the harddrive. (just make sure you install the server version, not the client version).
Then i use bat files to update and start the servers.

Let me know what you are precisely trying to do. And why. and i will see if I can help you get it setup for yourself.

I also run multiple servers(2 at the same time) and switch between about 6 servers using ASM. You can create new servers easily and turn on or off the ones you want. Also you can configure them for automatic updating and backup. I don't know why anyone would not use ASM ???

Thing is, I dont need anything so complicated as a second server running in tandem and I guess I'm just trying to save usage on my HD.

I have a server I play with one set of friends. I host it on my machine because reasons. I want to host another server to play with another group of friends on the same machine because I know the most about server hosting.

Without making another fresh server installation, how would i switch from one server (one name, one pass, one set of characters, one etc) to another (different name, pass, characters, etc) in the single server install that I have currently in-place.

If that is not possible, I will just suck it up and install another instance.

Just should add to my statements above (from a year ago.. all hail the necromancer!)... that I also use ASM to run 5 Ark servers on a single I5/32Gb PC.

ASM is awesome.

I used to do this when i wanted to play on the center map versus the island map i just created a folder within my ark folder called old save and just swapped out the files every time i changed map.
then i found out i could just use a different save folder for the center map by adding this to the bat file ?AltSaveDirectoryName=whatever you want to call it so far it seems to work ok

Wow total necro time once more, sorry folks. I am looking to set up my server so that I can swap between servers without having to move save files etc so will only ever run 1 server at a time. Do I need complete copies of all the ark server files to run the 2nd server or is there another way to do it?

Easist to download and install ASM. It handles multi-servers... but yeah, each server requires space for a full download. Install the first server, then copy the directory to avoid multiple big downloads.
