Knocking out a doedicurus that keeps curling up into a ball
So i just found this lvl 112 doedicurus in the woods and i want to knock it out to tame it, i have a mastercraft crossbow 187% weapon damage and i have tried shooting it in the head but then it curled up and then in the tail and after that i let it heal up to where there were no blood spots on it and then read that i should shoot it in the tail and so i did but it still curled up. How do i knock it out??

I would recommend using a longneck with tranq darts. Xbows just deal too much damage, causing the doed to curl up. Aim for the head with the darts and spread your shots out by 5-10 seconds. I knocked out several doeds this way without a single one balling up.
I just keep shooting them when the ball up, uses a rediculous amount of tranq arrows but those are cheap so whatever
Have someone pick them up while you tranq it, it can't curl up while being held. That's how I tamed all my doeds.

I´ll try it with a longneck and tranq darts, i have a ramshackle, 112% weapon damage, hope it´s enough. The only reson why i didnt you a longneck before was that it´s bullets are so expensive.

Wait out the curls. Once it curls up, back off from it just far enough so you can still see it. At some point it will uncurl. Just be careful of the bug you mentioned - you'll know it's definitely uncurled if it actually moves around not just stands there.
I have built a wooden box around so carnivores won´t attack it.
The way we tame them without a quetzy is to clear all the other wilds out, then go up and punch the Doed, then run around while he is aggroed on you and shoot it's feet. They have no armor, and he will not stop chasing you after you hit it with your fist. Also, this method keeps him from balling up to. Traq arrows work great for this method. Ans it is quite comical to watch someone else do it.

I just used a jman xbow. Keep your distance and space your shots out about 3 seconds. Worked for me for a 116.

The thing is that i have a mastercraft xbow and it might just do too much damage to it and i distanced my shots to about 5 seconds but it still curled up.

For all the dinos with "normal" torpor drop (not the new ones or giga/spino) the best is to space the shots 10 seconds, 5 is really not enough.
It's the best way to make more torpor and less damage, and always darts over tranq arrows when possible.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, MC might just be doing too much damage. You want a slow increase of damage, with small gaps between to let him heal a tiny bit between shots. 4 seconds between shots is plenty.

Also make sure you leave it alone long enough to get full hp. I once found a 120 that was getting attacked by a bunch of wolves, when I tried to tranq it it would just curl up into a ball because it already lost a lot of damage from the wolves. So, I just dropped it off at the volcano and left it for awhile then went back and used tranq arrows and it got knocked out. That was with a 190 journeyman crossbow and had no problems knocking it out with headshots.
just bring a horse up to em and use the back-kick. Works like a charm
