Friendly fire rules
Something I have struggled with when using multiple dinos in combat is exactly what causes friendly fire damage. I have accidentally killed a few new tames while trying to get them home, just because we were attacked by compy's, and I slaughtered everything with the pike, including my tame.

My rex has a pretty wide area of attack, if I let other dinos fight along side of him, they will just die right?

I was hoping to kill things in the north with my rex, and have my wolf collect the pelts and hides. I'm not sure to do that without putting the wolf on passive while the fight is going on, but it sounds like a pain. How do pack hunters deal with friendly fire?

Friendly dinos cant hit eachother unless you are on the most cruel of pvp settings.

You can't hurt friendly tames with your own tames. The only time you can hurt something regardless of friend or foe is when it's a human tool/weapon or causing it fall damage. Attacking something with your Trex while your wolf is attacking will not hurt your wolf (unless you're playing on some silly TC server where that happens?)

I had a situation where I was riding an anky with my rex as a body guard. I was collecting thatch in a forest, and the rex was right up close on follow. When I swung my tail, the rex yelped in pain. I had to take him off follow so he wouldn't get in the way.

That... sounds wrong. I've always had an escort while gathering with an Anky or Doed. Never have I once hit my escort. Check your server's settings. Perhaps they have special rules.

This is an official server.

Can you try and reproduce it for us sometime today? I would like to know. I will try the same in a few minutes.

I will. I'll just go whack my rexes ankles and see if there is actual damage. The yelping might just be cosmetic.

No damage, or reaction of any kind. Tried to eat my anky with my rex, nothing happened. I'm sure I was hitting my rex before, maybe it was an ant or compy that I didn't see. I don't know what happened, but it gave me some apparently false beliefs.

That's good. Glad to hear that. Would have sucked if they added friendly fire to tamed dinos.
