Electric Prod
Built one of these tonight thinking it may be an interesting addition to the arsenal. Little dissapointed in how it works though. I was wanting to knock out dimorphedons, small little birds. Hit one, nothing. Did some poking around, a 112 dimo has 750+ torpor, the rod does 266. It would take 3 or 4 rods to take out a high level dimo.

The only use I can see for these things is PvP and perhaps getting a start on torpor for dinos like dimetredons which are hard not to kill otherwise.

Am I missing something? For the cost I thought they would be better. Should I carry 3 or 4 to take down a dimo? Seems easier than actually hitting them with an arrow...

They are mostly meant for pvp, but also usefull to take out an animal thats been dropped in a taming pen. I used them to take out a low lvl quetz in a cage on the back of my quetz, just build a fabricator up there with some angler gel in it to recharge, then its provably the fastest way to knock creatures out

also they scale like other items, so i.e. a mastercraft would do it

True, they even spawn in deep sea loot crates, but the question is, will a mastercraft one take 8 gel to reload, or something like 200 since they go up in rescources quickly?

find a electric prod is useful for critters that have low health but high torpor makes it easier to knock them out without killing them

They may be used to tame a dinosaur i believe, the titanosaur. The huge sauropod that says it can take on gigas in the dossier.
It says on the dossier they are extremely resistant to torpor so lots of hits to the head will knock it out. This means a new item to knock it out with, the club (maybe a new advanced club) or the electric prod.

Well dimo's have weird hit detection, thats why nothing may have happened. Try it on a high lvl ptera.

I believe the catapult might be used to knock out a tinano since thats what i understand of hitting such a huge beast on the head. With a huge rock. Multiple times ^ω^

the titanosaur, the biggest dino ever going to be added, knocked on the head with a club?
that must be one hell of a big club then, or a catapult loaded with clubs being shot at it(s head
