Detection, 3/16/2016 12:14 AM, SYSTEM, ***************, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, IP, ********************************, Outbound, *:\SteamFolder\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGame.exe
I removed the private stuff, replaced with * but you get the idea. Got spammed 10 times just in the Server List for less than a minute. The IP's are the same but with different ports each time.
Oh, on my old install with BattlEye installed, it still did this too. So it doesn't look like it is BattlEye doing anything as my fresh install of the system doesn't have BE on it.
Ahh ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the information! Thankfully, the Malwarebytes blocks those but will have a Post-it note with that IP on it to remind me. :)
Thanks again oXYnary!
the game is fine. steam would have detected things like that ages ago since the download servers check files too. You can ignore the warning if you want to play the game. if you don't trust random people on the internet (i could pretty much understand that!) you can wait a few more days and contact malwarebytes, upload the .exe to virustotal.com and check it for example if you want to
Hey, I know what you are saying and yes, I am very careful on much of the security of my network and ISP use. (Anti-virus and Malwarebtyes, NAT firewall with 256 VPN tunnelling.) But, just like anything else, there is always someone (or some group) that love a challenge to crack their way into things, just for sport. Even just the everyday idiot like me.
But, I like to make sure to do as much as possible security but without going overboard and bog down the system, so as to not be as easy of a target too. :)
I figured as much that Steam (Valve) would flag it fast if there was issues of compromising systems. oXYnary had a point I didn't know about but was good to know the issue at hand. Easy enough to avoid but curiousity is a problem of mine and like to know why and what reason it was happening. That way I learn something new and maybe be able to help someone else as oXYnary and you have helped. :)
Thank you for the info and glad to be able to play again (without BattlEye, still something not right about them, cannot put my finger on it.) I am all for anti-cheating systems, if they work but, it cannot be ALL hackers commenting about concerns over BattlEye and what the software does. Can it? (shrug)
