Scummy Misdirection Much WildCard?
*ASA is now separate from ARK2 and includes all dlcs - and for those who only want ASA + DLCs the deal is generally cheaper than before*
Community: How dare you make us buy ASA without including ARK2
You should probably read the topic before replying...
I did and the last bit in the OP is complaining about ASA being more expensive now cause it doesn't include ARK2 anymore.
And it makes me laugh cause prior to this CC i seen a lot of comments complaining about being forced to buy ARK2 which most who are interested in ASA didn't seem to want and also demanded dlcs to be included.
That's what Wildcard did.
ASA is now separate and includes dlcs and those who didn't want ARK2 bundled in. Pay 60 bucks for ASA plus dlcs instead 90.
But now people are coming out of the woodwork complaining about ARK2 not being included with ASA and claim they are being ripped off.
It's comedy gold ^^
"We plan to support ARK: Survival Ascended with new features (including at launch), content drops, creatures, items, structures, and DLC. "
Did we NOT catch that there will be OTHER ASA dlc.. What are the chances those will be
free over the next few years? So we're paying 60 now for an updated version of a game we already paid like 80$ for previously AND we'll be paying ..what.. 20-40$ more for whatever ASA DLC that's on the horizon when this game was supposed to be a pushing off point technology-wise for ARK 2, not beating a dead horse.. ahem. cash cow.. for more money just to make it an 'evergreen experience'.
EDIT: Not to mention.. the fact that Overwolf Modding.. will not necessarily be free mods to the community.. I like how they totally gloss over that fact.
You want a 'premium' ARK: Survival Ascended Modded Experience..? that'll be 4.99$ per mod you want to add to your server now... LOL
But still i just can't help by noticing the irony of the whole situation about ASA being separate from ARK2 and people being angry now.
It was the community who screamed for "being forced to buy ARK 2 to get ASA" and demanded for official remastered dlcs to be included.
Welp ya'll ain't forced to buy ARK2 no more and official dlcs are included in ASA not separate 60 bucks instead 90 plus that pesky Ark Souls 2 that people didn't want.
Art thou not pleased? 😂
no offenses here but you are clearly not experienced enough with wildcard overall commercial policies. all you see is still the wonder of the new becomer. you don't think as a customer who has spent time and fidelity over a program for years.
plus they already admitted they needed that remaster to learn about ue5 so ark 2 won't be a mess. so they are basically selling you a beta pass to an (even more) unpolished game (they don't have 8 years to dedicate to it) for their next game. why not use "early access" as they did before ? why would they ask for Ark 1 ppl to finance Ark 2 if not interested in ?
they made choices for Ark 2, they stick to it, and their playerbase is divided since then. but they want money from all the chickens. that's a problem.
ps : this new "dlc" annoucement on ark 1 but only the remastered version is an clear annoucement of it. genesis 2 was officially the last dlc, they said it. but there was indeed one last "mystery" in the lore, back from extinction. it's all over the place. "Arat Prime". the fanbase hoped for it in gen1, but nope, it's a simulation and... go to hell with Arat Prime.
and if they use that "opportunity" of selling a remaster just to fill in the holes while not being able to even buy it on the original game, sorry but it feels like a finger in the face. and moreover when you think about the new gear requierement to play this "new" game.
(Also unsure what you mean by the wiki comment.)
Regardless of what Wildcard are this happened time and time before for various game studios.
You can never make everyone happy even if you listen to feedback there will always people who will be unhappy with the changes still.
There is no difference here.
And with that we can agree on.
a short backup remind is apparently requiered.
back then wildcard was in a lawsuit with another company because one of its head (I don't remember which one) was not supposed to work in the game company after leaving his/her job (one of those marvelous human rights overwhelming contract in usa, youhou !!)
but the person said "♥♥♥♥ it" and launched ark in early access. then came the lawsuit. Scorched Earth was then announced (faster than they wanted) and it helped finance that. the fanbase indeed invested in it because they did not want another "stomping land" scenario. (but I guess you don't know about stomping land, but for you to know the T-rex glasses in Ark are a reference to it, before some remakes it was only available to ppl who owned stomping land, even if it had disappeared from steam). so yeah even I bought several copies.
what we did not know back then was that they were about to be bought by snailgames. which indeed helped solves the lawsuit with founds and whatsoever and we kept our game.
but now comes the backslash. (it did before but this one is obviously the wildest) just like vivendi killed blizzard games with over micro-payment and poor content, snailgames want to drink the milk out of Ark fanbase, may it be selling it twice.
New Owners: ARK: Survival Ascended 60$
New Owners: ARK 2 40, possibly 50$ (best guesstimate)
Discount for ARK: Survival Ascended for People who own all ARK Survival Evolved content + DLC already. 40$. (or price points inbetween based on missing DLC, 45/50/55)
Discount for ARK 2 for People who buy or own ARK: Survival Ascended (MAXIMUM 30$) We're helping BETA test the ASA UE5 tech for you.. least we can get is a discount.
Some of us have been dedicated players since 2015 and Love this game (even with all the sh*t that's been thrown at us with DLC prices, flip flops on 'free updates' and 'paid versions', etc).. So how bout the Studio showing some love to people that have put their money where their mouth is and give us SOMETHING back with all these next gen changes on the horizon? Worst case scenario? We pay 90 for ARK SA and ARK 2 (like the original Community Crunch post, but prices between the two better split) and BEST CASE we only pay 70$ because we've bought into and love the franchise and have put thousands and thousands of hours into it.
Well yea i did mention this in post #8 that it would be nice if they did a discount like this.
But i apparently don't have enough ARK hours to even speak of such thing around "all knowing veterans" ^^
