So they are just gonna shut the servers and force us to buy the "new" version?
Honestly, it kinda feels like a scam, I got the dlcs few months ago and now it seems that I will be forced to buy it yet again.....wish I could refund them, wouldn't have even bought them if I knew this would be the case.

Just thought I might mention, there are quite a few long standing (several years for WoW, a few years for BDO) privately owned servers for all 3 of those games. WoW specifically has sooooo many custom servers that have tons of custom made content, various update versions, custom maps, etc. All for free to boot! No more sub fees.
Except fun fact, those WoW UnOfficial servers are against the Blizzard EULA and are copyright infringement.
Thus can be legally demanded they be shut-down by Blizzard at any point. :steammocking:

The same goes for BDO. Also breaking EULA and terms of the game client and so-forth.

So yes, while "unofficial servers exist" they do so by breaking EULA and Game-Service terms and are subject to even legal lawsuits if not accepting of the cease and desist order.

These are both games not intended to be played "UnOfficially" in the way that they are with these private server hosting measures and are in absolutely no way safer than playing "Officially" which is how these games are designed to be played.

So while you mention these exist, they exist against terms and violating agreements made when users who purchased the game in the first place, agreed to by simply purchasing the game and continuing to launch it any and every day afterwards.

ARK on the other hand, doesn't. ARK on the hand offers, supports and encourages the use of UnOfficial servers. All the way to the point of baking into the base game configurable settings and a mod-workshop complete with a Dev-Kit.

You can't compare them. You just can't.
I wasn't comparing them, I was trying to be nice and let you know there is a way to play those games beyond official means, seeing as how the average gamer has no idea of the existence of MMO private servers. As someone who ran WoW, Runescape, and Dekaron private servers right here in America for several years, I never got any trouble, hell I even did so while using Comcast, one of the most aggressive ISP's when it comes down to legal notices. As for the shutdown part, as I said, many have been up with no issue for over 10 years now. They are no more at risk of being shutdown than any other MMO that has been shutdown without notice. Sorry if I offended you by trying to introduce to you to the wonderful world of private servers. I should really stop trying to be so nice when so many on forums respond with aggression, criticism, and rants/lectures rather than a polite "I know they exist but choose not to use them, thank you though!". That's really all you had to say friend, instead of giving me a lecture on things that, with all due respect, I most likely know far, far more about than you. Have a lovely day.
I don't like it, but like someone else said, there is no changing their minds, and let's face it, we are all going to go buy it and play it. Might as well skip the moaning.

I'm well aware they exist, I also know they exist against terms. Which is why I didn't mention them being available and only referenced these games in terms of actually supported/encouraged means of gameplay.
Just because they've managed to survive this long doesn't mean they aren't breaking any contracts or eula terms and aren't at risk because of this. Which I'm sorry, but does make them more at risk than the otherwise official means these games provide.

But this post isn't about EULA abiding servers or breaking terms of contract, it's about provided availability game-modes and options relating to the shut-down of Official Servers for ARK: Survival Evolved.
Lets not make it anything else.

You very obviously didn't read/comprehend my post. I was trying to show you a kindness, which you met with hostility and condescending tones. I don't give a dang about shutting down official servers or people whining about it, I was trying to instill some kindness and camaraderie in an otherwise toxic debate. Also, who do you think, exactly, is going to shut down these private servers ran in independent countries with no ties or extradition treaties with the US? Do you honestly believe the US has any power what so ever to enforce law in countries that do not agree with theirs? What are we gonna do? Bomb a country over copyright laws? Of course not. Which is why these servers have been running for over a decade without issue.
But since you want to 'stay on topic' instead of being a reasonable, kind person, I digress:

The shutdown of official servers, according to BattleMetrics, will effect 2.14% of players. So sorry, but no one cares about you official players and your measly 2%. We, the 97.86%, don't care that your toxic alpha tribe ruled servers are going to be shutdown. Good riddance I say! Hopefully in ARK 2 players will learn from this and not support or play official at all and stick with unofficial servers running only non-paid mods. Anyone who does otherwise, it is their own fault and no one else's.
Actually...come to think of it, ARK2 might be a better game if all current official players just didn't buy the game. Then we won't have any where near as many toxic players that think locking a newly installed, newly bought the game, Beach Bob in a cage until he uninstalls and refunds is a "part of the game" or "the way the game was meant to be played" just because they gave us the means to do so. So again...GOOD RIDDANCE!

Have a lovely day.

no WE arent all going to go buy and play it not even close. Ark 2 is going to be a huge bust IF it ever even gets released.

It's okay, a lot of us will buy it and new players will check it out too. As good as a game Ark is I highly doubt Ark 2 will be a bust, but maybe you know something no one else does. :steamsalty:

speak for yourself. I'm certainly not buying Ark 2 or Ark Ascended. I already paid once for Ark Survival Evolved.

It's funny you should say that since I'm about to get on Atlas and join a private server for the event today. Battle schooners, last one floating gets prizes.

I don't like the way someone responded to me, they're being aggressive and mean.
I can be actually aggressive and mean if you're going to insist I am so.

Just because you don't get the responses you're expecting or hoping for, doesn't mean someone's actually being snarky or short with you.
I read your posts, but you obviously didn't read mine or understand mine well enough since apparently you thought I was being rude and unkind to begin with. :steamsalty: No sweat off my back regardless.

Looks like the second half of your post here certainly turned out rather mean and unkind even borderline toxic towards Official Players in general. Good for you!

Sweet. Another fortune teller and mind reader!

What am i thinking about right now?
How is my future looking?

Not forcing you to do anything.

Everything about Ark: survival evolved will still continue to work, except the official servers.

They're just shutting down the free servers that people have enjoyed for _eight_ years. And no one is losing anything. The files will be made available for people to host them themselves. Out of their own wallet.

and that's why everyone is screaming. They bought a video game, never paid any kind of subscription fee for those servers, and yet somehow feel they are entitled to have free servers foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
jester farming

It's funny as Snailgames has been caught time & time again selling modded dinos on offi, yet people are really out here trying to state nobody in the community has paid for ♥♥♥♥. Hold this L, corpo shill.

Your points in this post alone are entirely valid, for the most part. Though only the last 1/4 or 1/3 is toxic, as the second half is entirely factual and can be backed by BattleMetrics.com.
So, that being said, where is your response to my factual, statistically proven evidence that official servers being shutdown only effect 2% of players? You wanted to stay on topic, so lets stay on topic. Why should 98% of players care about the 2% who refuse to just accept that official servers WILL still be available to EVERYONE who is willing to play unofficial by migrating? These are facts. They are not emotionally charged or biased. Just facts. No one is losing anything, they just have to take a few more steps if they want to keep their progress.
and? so what I still stand by the statement, They want to Milk us like cows to cover their fiscal incompetence, look at the last year of their Stock Value.. down 50% and dropping. We are Stronk.
and it was Lag that got the double post, My ISP is not great tonight, I deleted one, Happy?
