The level of arrogance in that statement alone is mind blowing. Let me ask you people in this forum, why the f would anybody restart their 10k hour official tour? Nobody would... literally nobody... this is insane. And if you lot unironcially believe that ANYTHING will change then you're absolutely mistaken. People will still edit theri INI files because WC is a garbage company, Trees, rocks all useless.... K mode still there, dinos clipping through everything... still there. Bug, mesh and abuse spots on every single map... still there.
Why would you assume that wildcard would improve or fix ANYTHING that they refused to address over the past 5 years?
You either literally have never played a remake ever... or you simply don't being used like an actual Mark by this company. Go on, pay them another 100$ so you can replay the exact same buggy mess.
Anybody who supports this is actually insane. Tell me why you would support this? Even remotly... wtf do you think is going to happen after an engine upgrade? They won't rewrite the entire code... so no, nothing happens. Nothing changes!
and yes, as some in here already suggested this is beyond f'ed even for private server players... who can no ''opt out'' of the upgrade so they don't lose their 10k JUST LIKE EVERYONE ON OFFICIAL WILL... meanwhile reta*dcard unironically thinks all their official fans will just roll over and follow...
Not like Ark has been bleeding players like mad for the past 3 years... right? Not like every exploit known to man is doable in this game... right? Oh my god.
I guess the user community will decide if WildCard's Business Decision was a bad one (or not). I was always taught that it was easier to keep you existing customers than find new ones; so it seems mindblowingly stupid to alienate your customer base like this.
The revenue stream to wildcard will decide; if it strangulates then I hope the CFO and CEO at Wildcard wake up, smell the coffee and do something different that repairs the damage before this small company (<100 employees) goes bust.

Basically people had free servers for 8 years. And they're not losing _anything_. The files are going to be made available for download. They're just going to have to pay for the servers themselves.
And that's where everyone is up in arms.
Because many of the officials servers, that are supposed be public, were in effect turned into private servers. Small groups of players took control of individual official servers and made it so toxic for anyone else to play on but themselves. You can check the older forum posts for a continuous series of posts about all kinds of abuse that was going on.
In some official servers, they knock out your player characters, handcuff you, and then haul your body off to a prison. They keep you alive, so that every time you log in, you're still stuck in their prison. Can't play, can't do anything. Some are doing this to keep any other group from usurping them. But others are just doing it for _fun_.
So they basically made this mess. The officials have had numbered days for probably quite a while. Anyone who didn't see this coming eventually was just deluding themselves.
Wow as a Long term breeder that has never duped, cheated etc. I take offence. Its very easy for someone who plays on unofficial with mods with increased rates and quality of life mods on top of a Admin they can just call when they have any issues. You play the easy version of the game and have 0 right to com here and tell people who have dumped years of work that its ok to be erased on a whim with 0 remorse from the Dev team.
The remaster is great. Ark needs the upgrade. The drawn out road map of taking 2-3 years to drop all the existing content is a major issue. The excuse that "they need time to rework the assets" is absolute crap. They have already completely done a new DLC that is set to release this year. In the time it takes to build a new DLC map they could have easily done the work on the Non Canon and DLC maps and release the game we have now. Not the EA game with new paint some new engrams and the worst secondary map in the game all at a cost of 70.00 day one.
Understood. From a maturity point of view, I would expect anything ASE to be at 'production standard', mature (ie nothing major needs fixing, minor bugs). So should be able to carry on playing for years to come (if we want).
The game has been out for EIGHT years. Did you think anything that wasn't fixed yet, was going to be fixed at all?
The things people are referring to are probably _unfixable_. Otherwise they would have fixed them. They're side effects of the design of the game, and the only way they can actually fix them... wait for it, wait for it... is make a _new_ version.
Wait... shock... gasp... isn't that what ark ascended will be? OMG.
