Mammoths for boss fights?

I haven't played ark in a long time but I've been getting a craving for it lately, ever since fjordur I feel like the tames and abilities you have access to are a little OP, definitely fun, but I started wanting to go back to simpler gameplay. I've been sticking to the island and only using base game engrams, and one boss creature I've been thinking about is mammoths. Pretty solid stats, not too difficult to tame, they spawn fairly frequently so finding a high level isn't a big issue, they're herbivores so they eat veggie cakes, and I swear I find at least an apprentice mammoth saddle BP on literally any given playthough without fail. You guys think they'd be a strong option?

I'm actually in the process of doing the EXACT same thing, with the exact same mindset. I also haven't played in some time, went back to the Island, decided to breed some mammoths for boss fights. Wish I had more information to give, but I'm still pretty early on in my breeding line.

Something that might interest you is that the mammoths got a few changes some time ago. They gave it some nice new abilities, like a stomp attack, a debuffing roar, and the war drum buff thingy. I *think* this should make them do OK to go against some of the bosses
