I still can't play this. It takes up over half my hard drive, and my machine has a breakdown every time I try. This game has so much potential, but it's so poorly optimized that it's basically unplayable unless it's the only game you install.

You must have all of the DLC installed at the same time.
Surely you're not playing on every single map?

It does require 8GB of ram to play, which my laptop already came with but it was still really laggy so I upgraded my laptop for $25 to 16GB with new chips and it works great now. Maybe thats something you should look into

My recommendation when reading system requirements is that you assume that whatever number they say is strictly for the game itself. Always leave some overhead for the operating system and background processes. So if the min for Ark was 8GB... Then that isn't really leaving a lot for background services.

Especially so if you have built in graphics which will reserve like 1-2 GB of RAM as VRAM for the onboard GPU.

The base game is about 125GB.
With all DLC >430GB.

If 125GB is half your drive... Then I suspect you may have an office computer not really designed to be gaming.

That or you have some monstrous mods downloaded.

if you cant play it you cant play it man. dont let it ruin games for you. theres 100s of thousands of amazing games out there with plenty of people playing that your computer CAN handle
