Start Dedicated Server with NoBattlEye using the Host/Local menu button
I know how to launch a dedicated server with a batch file, but I want to launch it using the in-game menu. How do I apply the -nobattleye option when doing this?

apply the flag to launch options of your client on steam

Oh. I didn't realize it was that easy. I was thinking there was a file I needed to edit.

Thanks I'll give that a try.

Actually, that didn't work. It still starts with BattleEye.

try uninstalling BattleEye first. that's how i have mine all set up and i play a mixture of SP, dedicated and non-dedicated. both server and client launched with the flag and battleye uninstalled.

if i try to join a server with it on, that's when my game asks me to install it

I don't have it installed in the first place. When I attempt to join my local dedicated server, it asks me to install it, and when I refuse it just takes me back to the ARK main menu.

sry, misunderstood, thought you were talking about non-dedicated. never had a reason to launch a dedicated server from the game.

The reason I want to do it this way is because I've been hosting a non-dedication session for weeks and I want to try running the same game as a dedicated server. I thought this would do it, but I just got it running and no, it didn't save our stuff. The settings and mods seemed to be the same, but all of our stuff is gone. I don't know how to switch to dedicated without losing everything.

it would have its own Saved directory. if you can figure out where that is, could try copying the SP Saved dir there. there was something about changing the local.profile to playerid.profile i think

in any case, there are better options for running dedicated. someone familiar with it might enlighten us about ASM which is supposed to be easiest. i personally use linuxGSM for lightweight.

Actually, I did figure that out a short bit ago. I copied the data from "/Saved/SavedArksLocal" => "/Saved/SavedArks" and everything is there! I had to retake ownership and all that, and there's still an issue I need to sort out with the Awesome Teleporters mod, but just copying those files did what I wanted.

I ended up just running the server via a batch file. I checked the log created by the in-game-menu server start and copied that command line so that it used all of the same settings. The only annoying part is that if I want to add/change any mods or anything, I'll have to redo the steps to get the new command line.
