"Corrupt Download" Error (SOLVED)
I have had ARK: Survival Evolved installed on this PC before, but I installed it over a year ago to free up space. Each time I try to reinstall it now, no matter which drive I choose, I receive an error on Steam within the "Downloads" page that simply says in red text [CORRUPT DOWNLOAD].

All I could think of doing based on advice online was to delete all the remaining files in my C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK folder. Before attempting to reinstall the game again, I completely force-closed and relaunched Steam. Once I initiated the download again, it got to the exact same point in the progress before stalling out and giving me the red text [CORRUPT DOWNLOAD].

Does anyone have any idea as to why this might be happening and what can be done to fix it?

UPDATE (SOLVED):

Thank you to @mayhem for providing supportive and reasonable suggestions! The solution ended up being as follows...

Instead of canceling (manually stopping) the download and restarting my computer, simply interrupting the installation by forcing my computer to restart, booting up Steam once again, and resuming the download fixed the issue! Hope this helps anyone else who encounters this little roadblock.

You might try going into your Steam / Settings / Downloads and changing your download region. Maybe the file on the server your Steam is downloading from has gotten corrupted or something, this would I believe force Steam to try downloading from a different server.

Maybe also make sure that this folder \Steam\steamapps\downloading is empty (it's a temporary folder). Just in case any corrupted files got stuck in there.

There's also a temp folder that is usually empty, worth checking if there's anything in there and deleting it: Steam\steamapps\temp

How much space left on the drive you are installing ARK ? and

Oh, these are some fantastic ideas! Thank you sincerely for informing me! I appreciate it so much and I'll be certain to give these a go!

As an update — sadly none of the potential fixes worked. I am genuinely shocked, as they seemed to be the most reasonable and applicable choices for this particular circumstance.

I followed each of the steps provided carefully by clearing out all of the files from the "downloading" and "temp" sub-folders before trying to reinstall the game. I had changed the region three times, but still to no avail. As a last-ditch effort I will try to use a non-US download region — beyond that, I can't think of what else to do, sadly. :(
