Bad Graphics
Can someone please help me with the video I have been trying for a month to get this game to play at good video setting where it's not to white in the winter biom so I wouldn't be blinded and could still see but can't figure it out then in other places the game looks to dark at night. I even reset my video graphics for the game and that didn't help I also have NVIDIA set to optimize it seems to help some but not much. I have a

Intel core i5-9300h
16gb ram
Windows 10
Nvidia rtx 2060 and Intel uhd 630 but have graphics only using rtx 2060

open the console and type gamma 2, or 3, or 4 depending on how bright you like it. You can also make something inbetween like gamma 2.5. You can use that anytime ingame.

i tried that and it seemed to make things to dark

The higher the number the brighter it is. Lower numbers make it more dark

is using geforce setting a bad ideal or is it good. been researching best graphic settings but keeping getting different ones and they don't help. but the gamma one seems to help some.

could be: bloom effect, or nvida filters - id remove them

definitely bloom. people also turn off lightshafts which causes similar issues. both are ark settings you can toggle on/of while in the option screen. if that makes it better, you can enable them and jusst lower the effects via the console

For the better sake of clarity:

1. Go to the steam help menu, click "system information" and then copy paste all that here so we can see what steam exactly detects for your comp and any potential discrepancies of relevance.

2. Are you using modded content? If so list all mods here by name and in their specific load order.

3. If why "blinded" due to the snow blizzard conditions, that's actually working as intended, especially on certain maps even more....

4. Other's already mentioned upping the gamma at night to circumvent the intended darkness by the devs(its a survival game where you're meant to use light and deal with environmental conditions that are challenging). However changing gamma also affects the graphic fidelity visuals aesthetically for some. Just be aware then of the trade off.

Nvidia geforce experience is good to use. However it's recommendations are for settings when playing in default conditions of the game. Given most of the complaints you've had visually, this is not an issue of your card's capabilities but just your frustrations with intentended in game environmental settings.

However, also keep in mind that you're using a low end 2000 series card which is -not- meant to play ark in the max settings for graphic fidelity without the sacrificing of performance and vice versa. That's why geforce experience gives a recommended set of settings.

However if you're also playing with mods, super boosted or other extreme game play conditions like mall sized bases and dino lots, such circumstances will also require reducing graphic fidelity settings so as not to impede performance.

Your stacking mod is a broken and abandoned one. Either replace it with a stack mod that is more up to date(updated after the last dlc map) or consider using ini file changes to create stacking.

These specific mods wouldn't necessarily cause graphic issues though(unless you were using SS to make massive mall sized bases causing rendering stresses).

All in all my initial posts information is probably what you need to make more considerations of regarding your perceived graphic issues and that of others mentionings with regards to bloom etc. Also in regards to the darkness, that's again working as intended.
Number1Destroyer Jan 2, 2023 @ 8:25pm
so use the recommendations geforce gives me and up my gamma if i don't like the darkness at night and replace my stack mod with a newer mod and see if the bloom and light shafts and see if that helps Right? Sorry just want to make sure before i start trying to play the game and lose everything again because i have to uninstall and reinstall the game and verify files trying to fix this graphic stuff.

You do not need to uninstall/reinstall the game. You also do not need to lose your save if you do backups.

seems every time i delete the GameUserSettings which i saw in a post on steam that it was the best way to reset the graphic settings it seems to always delete my in game information like mods and stuff.

So what are the exact steps do i need to take to fix this please. i would love to play the game.

You do not need to delete game user settings....

We've already outlined what we recommend for you to consider. There's really not much more that we can specify. You could provide pics or vids of what you're experiencing that you're complaining over but likely we're going to tell you its very likely normal game play(watch vids of others who play perhaps?)

Again half of this is more or less your subjectivity to things versus an actual overall issue outside of bloom or similar.

Outside of that, either get a computer capable of higher graphical fidelity, play ark as a stream to play(and deal with its own inherent issues), watch videos so of thousands of others who play/have played to compare to your situation(likely showing you that its something not out of the ordinary perhaps), or consider playing something else that matches your caliber as a player more.
Number1Destroyer Jan 2, 2023 @ 9:09pm
and as for the mods you guys suggest I don't put anything in the game that has not been updated since June 12 2022 since that is when the last DLC map was released?
