Platform saddle: Uses, desgins, thoughts

So, after sitting on my bronto and realzing I had 0 clue what to build on hera as I have a mobile base built on my quetzal, this little discussion will be on platform saddles and their use.

--Quezt platfrom

As you can see, I have everything I need on my queztal so I have no need in a mobile base especial a slow bronto one. The quetz platform is perfect for a mobile base as its fast, can avoid most dangers by flying, and yeah it can friggin fly. You can take it anywhere on the map with little concern. This makes it perfect for:

-Taming outside your base
-Mobile workstation
-Reloading and refitting
-Feeding the herd away from base
-Caging other Quetz for taming. NOTE: This works but if you move your Qutez after the target Quetz is down, it will drop to the ground. Observe your surroundings prior.
-Mobile refinery
-War bird, X Plants/Auto Turrets and protection for rider(s)

Now on mine, yes I could add some defenses but at the moment they are not eneded.

--Paracer platform

Now I haven't made it yet (but will soon) but from what I've seena they are great for base raids and defense. With that said, you can toss and few foundations down, plant x and turrets, boom! Mobile AA for your base or while you move your herd of dinos from point A to point B. Can suffice for a mobile work station as well for around the base and the surrounding area but not for long range as they are still relatively slow.

-Mobile workstation for around the base and nearby area
-Mobile AA
-Mobile raiding base
-Mobile refinery (slow)

--Bronto Platform

This is where I'm stumped. With the quetz being the perfect all round mobile station and the Para being a good land based one with better speed, the bronto platform IMO is kinda pointless. Yeah you can mimic the Para but tis slow as crap and stat wise (from what I've seen, yes I know they can be more) the Para turns out better by cost. So really all I can say for it at the moment is mobile AA for defending your bronto farm but even tahts poor as you can fly under the bronto and avoid the plantx/turrets

-Poor mobile AA base
-Seige Bronto
-Mobile narcotic production
-Mobile refinery (very slow)

--Plesio platform

Massive, long neck fish that looks as mean as my great aunt. So far, I've seent he attack to be good on them but currently (V 238) theres little to do underwater limiting its use.

-Mobile underwater base (restricted due to being surrounded by water)

So, thoughts? I'll update this as the thread goes on and possibly make a guide of it for reference.

i play essentially on PVE, but my bronto platform is made for crafting tons of narcotics on the spot + providing a decent home that can be left alone outside base (of course not in giganoto territory), both my brontos have also 4 plants x each.
Btw i want to replace them with apprentice or ascendant saddles and rebuild the house on the top with iron instead of stone structures.

Plesio: got one with 9 plant x on it but they are quite ineffective underwater against mosas or other plesios, the other one has a big big flat roof and we use it as a ptero/argent carrier

Paracer: one has a battle drum on it just for fun, the other 3 smithy and 3 mortars, but it became useless since we built the industrial forge

I use each of the platform dinos with a certain purpose. the quetz is the same as you have it. mobile taming/workstation. I use paracers as mobile forges so I can get on up to the volcano and let it hang with the anky. i use the bronto as a narcotic station. can gather the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of narcoberries from a jungle then can just swap the berries to the mortars and i put meat in the feeder to spoil. i use the mosa as a deep sea base since i have a lot of crap on it then the other platforms. i also have turrets set up on it and a rocket launcher to take waste of anything that comes at me and my mosa. the plesio i don't really use much of anymore since the mosa has better hp, melee, and stam but is great for starting off before you can get a mosa. plus for the mosa it has the biggest platform so you don't have to place foundations since i can fit 2 vaults, generator, fridges, fab, smithy, forge, etc and still have a open area to walk

Quetzal: one has a cage for trapping other quetzal, the other one has a large platform for shooting in safety, with a bed, two chairs and a mortar on it, and a ramp on the back for other dinos.

We don't put feeding throughs on platforms because they disturb the placement of dinos in base, and also the smithy on the quetzal is useless if you have at least one beaver.

I am playing on official PvP so official build limits apply to all my platforms

Right now i have 5 Queztal Platforms for different purposes:
1) Taming Quetz with a Quetz Cage spect into speed to make searching for dinos less boring. It is also loaded up with tons of narcotics darts and arrows so everything is ready to tame, only need to grab the kibble from the fridge and go.
2) I have 2 farming quetz spect into weight (2.5k each +-), each one having 10 refining forges, 1-2 mortar and pestle and a smithy. They also have 4-6 xplants, that is a must on a farming quetz because they will alert you of danger and keep it away while farming.
3) X-Plant War quetz spect into HP and speed. There are 24 xplants on this platform and all can shoot at once at an enemy right before you.
4) Warquetz spect into HP (25k) and speed with full metal protection for the rider + 4 auto turrets + 2 xplants + Mini-gun turret.

I also have a Bronto Platform for farming. It is specced mainly into weight and now has 3.7k. (prefect tame 120). It has 16 ref forges, a smithy 2 mortar and pestle, a generator and a fridge + 2 lamps and about 14 xplants to keep danger away. This thing is great for farming spark powder, just run with the anky and have this on follow and you can go forever. I live near a small river with a lot of rocks in it and its great farming this with the Bronto on follow. I also keep a bird landed on it in case i have to go somewhere quick. This thing can defend itself pretty good.

I also had a paracer platform but i never actually used it so i gave it to a small tribe. Its nice for starters but the weight is not enough. I might be faster than the Bronto, but when speed is an issue i will pick a quetz. And a quetz also has double the weight ...

I will try to post some screenshots of the platform designs later when i get home.

For Brontos,you pretty much use them as giant metal forges in my opinion or use them to build things like turrets on them and such for sieges.

a good use for a quetz or bronto (takes forever to get it up there) is a refinery station up on the volcano. Forges, fabricator, pestles (for cementing paste), smithy

id be quite interested to see the metal cage for the rider version or at least a little tip on how to build it, doesnt it totally restrict the view?

You can look it up but its a process of placing foundations, pillars and roofs to get the snap points lower and lower until you reach the desired height


Also, awesome replies guys. Reckon I forgot the "cage quetz" in my OP but yeah, thats a big one. Least till you catch what you want. We started with a lvl 12 quetz and used it until we spotted a 72. I tore everything down in a hurry lmao to throw the cage back on.

Ight so, Brono's as mobile narcotics produces nice, didn't think of that. Battle brontos, para's nice. Mk.

So the mossa has a platform as well? Thought only the plesi had one for underwater but it makes since. Mossa is friggin huge.
