Quetzal taming in SP

Hello everyone,

i allready have one quetzal tamed by scorpion, but it was pain for lvl 6 and i killed 3 or 4 quetzal before. So, i want to tranq new one some different way. I´m lvl 73, so i can´t use quetzal platform cage system.
I tried to stand on my quetz and shoot darts, while my bird chasing the wild one, but it allways moves its head to my way, so it doesn´t work. Now, i think about use grapling hook to move myself on wild one´s back and tranq it from there. What do you think, is it possible ?

You'd want to look at youtube for a grapple tame video to see how to do it right, or level up to get the plaform saddle... which is what I did last time

I saw on reddit someone who whistled 'attack my target' on their Argy, and then grappled to it (so the Argy chased the Quetz, while the person hung under the Argy shooting). Perhaps that might work?

You can't grapple a wild one as it'll break the grapple as soon as it goes into flee animation.

Yeah, i know this option, but argie allways gives a few hits.
I know about releasing grapple, if i hit dino one more, but i want to do something different.
Question is - if i can get on back of a wild quetzal, can i stay there during shooting darts ?
Grappling hook just helps me to get there, once i will be there, can i stand there without any other support ? I can stand on my quetzal even if it doesn´t have saddle and flies.

The Quetz will buck when first attacked, possibly throwing you off. It would also be risky to get on top of it in the first place, even with a grapple. What I previously suggested is probably your most convenient option (if you use a weighed down or slow Argent it really shouldn't hit it, other than once at the start when the startled animation plays).

yeah Bring Lots of spair shoots and grapples, also helps to have a relattivly slow low damage bird, i failed at my tame but only cuss i some how traked the bird i was grabbled to and took faill damage.

I didn't bother with the tame though - already got several high level ones. That vid was just a proof of concept as people were saying solo quetzal tames were impossible.

You cant get on wild quetz any more. Grappling hook does work, use a Decent Pterra for the speed...

You missed the part where he said he's only lvl 73 so cannot build the platform saddle.

Last option is to get in front of the wild Quetzal with ur Quetzal to tranq it so u can steer it where ur base is located
