tuning ark for a Quadro 1000m
if i want to tune this game for the best possible performance on an eliteboo 8560w with a quadro 1000m, and 4GB of RAM, what are my options? ive tried sticking it on DX10 mode and sm4 mode without much gain in perfromance. i dont want to alter resolution, because i quite like having it run at native res. i start it in 4GB mode, and i have all the settings save for resolution and FoV at minimum.

I'm sorry but that is the definition of a potato, and a bad one at that. My advice, get a new PC if you can and really want to play OR if you are under 2 ingame hours try to refund the game.

Good luck!

cmon fam, ive read posts where people are playing this on 10 year old cards, im sure a sandy bridge era quadro can be coaxed into playing this smoothly

the quadro 1000m is extremely weak. you would need 3 of them to get the power to play ARK on low settings at 720p with useful fps

nah, its low end but its not that weak
Acandri Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:40am
the quadro 1000m has, approximately, the same gaming "power" like a GT530. and thats not even a card for gaming (GT = multimedia, GTX = gaming).
most integrated GPUs from modern CPUs are stronger....

the reason is simple: the quadro cards are designed for workstations. for CAD or Office work. they simply don´t know what to do with a game.

p.s.
and the worst of it: they have only DDR3 VRAM. even old cards use DDR5 VRAM.

read the actual hardware details, its basically a 550m with a 30MHz drop in clock and a few extra features. the benchmarks i looked at had it sitting roughly side by side with iris pro graphics, which aint great, but its hardly terrible.

A general rule of thumb mobile gfx chips are general = to the power of a card 3 tiers back so it would not even perform with the same power as a 550 non m it would be equivalent to a 400 series mid to top end which as everyone is telling you is not powerful enough, on top of that as Acandri is saying quadro cards were never designed with gaming in mind they simply do not have the processing architecture for gaming, they are fantastic at what they do but they are absolutely shocking for gaming.

Yes you may have seen threads with people getting this to work on 10 year old cards, they were however 10 year old gaming cards not cad rendering hardware. I've had this running on a gt 640 , a gtx 650ti and a gtx 660 all are old and fairly weak compared to whats required but each would smash a quadro in gaming.

youre giving a whole lot of reasons as to why this is a bad idea but not many ideas as to how to do it. given that ive got 30-40 FPS out of it on low settings at 900p, id say its not an impossible task.

Quadro M6000 desktop card is equivalent to a Geforce 980ti in performance.... the only difference is the cost.
GTX 980ti = $450 average
Quadro m6000 = $4800 average
^ see....
reckon it would be possible to get the 550m driver running with it?
is there an opengl mode for this game?
work with me man, you obviously know a thing or two about these bits of kit.
Well you can running downhill with youre pc while youre playing Ark maybe you get more fps?

sry mate cant resist:)

Sorry man, but this is how pc gaming works. If you can't run it, you can't run it. No tweaking will fix that. You have to upgrade your computer from time to time, which means you're either going to have to upgrade or buy a console if you want to play this game. I've been in the same boat before and it sucks, but that's just how it is.
