Bug: Attack This Target whistle not working
As the title says, the whistle to command my dinosaurs to attack the target I'm looking at isn't working. I even used the crosshair from my slingshot to make absolutely certain I was pointed directly at the enemy dinosaur. I tried changing it to a different hot key, I tried using it from the whistle selection wheel, I tried doing it from medium range, far range, and close range.

Obviously the dinosaur aggro'd from close range, and only after I hit it did my dino attack the dino chasing me. (Btw pretty sure the enemy dino going after me to the exclusion of all else despite other dinosaurs attacking it is also a bug.) That's when I discovered that the Attack This Target whistle does work in one instance: When using it while aiming at an already dead corpse. Well gee, that's nice. Not like that helps AT ALL.

Addendum: I originally had the post labeled as "Attack My Target" whistle. That one is different and just changes the aggression mode of your dinosaurs. That one did work. It was the 'Attack This Target' whistle command that I was talking about that wasn't working.

Thought the whistle just changes the mod of your dinos to "attack my target" which means they will attack anything you attack or attacking you. It does not mean they attack what your looking at. You still have to start the combat yourself, then they will move in

You'd be correct. Fixing... fixed.

When you say that you tried medium, far and close range was that your range from the target or your tamed dinosaurs targetting range which is now configurable per dino.

it did, but they shortened it for some reason..

When I spoke of range, I was talking about how far away I was from the dinosaur I was trying to command my dilo to attack, which was another dilo. By rough estimation, I tried to do it from 20+ feet away, then about ten feet away from behind, then I practically got on top of it to try and get the whistle to work. It didn't. Then the dilo noticed me and tried to attack. I kited it around since it was completely ignoring my pet dilo to attack me instead. This lasted for about a minute before my dilo finished it off. I ended up pressing the key again after it was dead, and only then did the whistle to attack this target start working. Not that my dilo did anything since the target was already dead, but at least it actually did start whistling finally. It just won't work on living dinosaurs.

Must have been server lag or something. "Attach this target" should cause your Dino to attack without you implementing the fight yourself. I used this whistle while hanging from a grappling hook on my Argent to get it to chase a Quetz so I could tranq it down (this works really well).

I don't have access to the spyglass engram just yet but I'll give a try with the whistle while using the spyglass. I'm pretty darn sure though that if it didn't work while using the crosshair of the slingshot as a guide while literally 6 inches away from the dilo, but it would after it was dead, it's not going to work just because I'm using the spyglass. The key part being is that it DID work on the dilo after it was dead, but wouldn't while it was alive.

Server lag affecting the whistle would be pretty odd in this case considering I'm playing singleplayer, and the whistle DID work after the enemy dilo was dead. It just refused to work while it was alive. I've since tested it on other dinosaurs, and it just plain does not work on living dinosaurs.

I'd also like to mention that despite my Dilo being set to aggression level 'Attack MY Target', it completely ignored the fact that I attacked a Trilobite.
Zordah Jul 14, 2016 @ 8:03pm
Yeah it doesn't work against Trilobites at all

are you sure you are pressing . ? also i found that it works better for bigger animals.
In order for you to target a dino make sure you can see the yellow/red name and lv of your target.

Yes, I made sure. To be fair, I haven't tested to see if it was fixed since the last update, but before tha thappened, I tried it out on a bronto. Still didn't work. I'd test it out now, but I'm a little busy playing with my new Oculus Rift, and unless this game has a VR mode (and holy crap that would be amazing if it did) it'll be a while before I just back onto this game again.

the reason it isnt working for you is because the whistle "attack this target" is for dinos in the tame group you have selected,
