Advice on dealing with Alpha Raptor
So I'm pretty new to the game (lvl 35) and playing in single player mode to get a feel for it, but I've run into a bit of a problem.

Initially I started setting up a hut/base on the finger peninsula on the east side of Footpaw but got chased out of there by a Spino wandering in from Southern Islets. So I picked up and moved to the very tip of Footpaw. Now I have another Spino on the opposite beach in Southern Jungle. I haven't worried about him too much since the river is fairly wide, I'm on a tall cliff, and I've nearly completed walling off the only accessible side with stone walls. But I started to think it a bit weird that the only carniverous dino's I've seen so far on Footpaw have been two Spinos and a handfull of dilo's. So I tamed a pteranadon and went looking. In the north I found 2 titanboas and nothing else, until I flew over Weathertop. Apparently there is an Alpha Raptor up there tearing up anything that spawns.

So I'm not sure how to prep to take this thing down. My dino "army" so far consists of 3 Dilo's (lvl 16, 20, &26), a Trike (lvl 13), and my Pteranodon (lvl 4). That Alpha is definitely too close to my base to just leave on the loose, but I'm not sure my guys are up to the task. I was thinking of taming up a male Trike and female dilo to mate boost my current dino's then take the whole gang up there and have them attack while I barrel roll on the ptera. Or maybe tame a couple of turtles to tank while my other dinos have at him while I again, barrel roll on the ptera?

Not very helpful, but probably the smartass answer I would have given. lol

The trike will have a knock back effect that if timed right the raptor will not be able to hit you, until you run out of stamina

Find out the lvl of that Alpha by using a Scope on your Pteranodon. Then if possible tame a bear and level it in HP and Damage. The saddle will be expensive however once done a bear will kill everything - even that Alpha Raptor if your bear has at least the level of that Alpha. Make sure however that the Alpha is alone. Thats how I killed the 49er Alpha Raptor on my server.

Yeah been meaning to get around to making a scope. So far I haven't had a source of crystal. Having the pteranodon though should change that since I can travel further, quicker, and safter than ever before.

Also there are no bears on Footpaw unfortunately. I should be able to find one in Southern Jungle, Redwood, or Southern Islets but I'd have to figure out how to sneak them past the Spino's that are flanking Footpaw.

Yeah at her level she runs out of stamina pretty quick. So I'll probably have to hold off for a bit.

If you need to get rid of it really badly, open up the console with Tab and type god and then press the Enter key and beat the crap out of it. God mode doesn't stop you drowning though, so don't fight in the water.

Perhaps the best short term solution is to kite the raptor away from your base on your ptera. However they do have a major case of Ark-ADHD and get distracted by the littlest thing. Maybe try kitting it to a known giga spawn? No possible way the giga could follow u back, too slow. Don't be afraid to use other wild dinos to eliminate a treat.

Cheat or no cheat, it's going to respawn eventually in the ame area. May be instant if the spawn is out of render range. Go to swamp, get xplant seeds to protect your base. You will know which plant to harvest when you see it. Funky looking and out of place.

hmm..don't see how your going to have time to tame additional dinos..with an Alpha Raptor hanging around? And don't be foolish enough to try and attack it with the dinos you have now! Your Dilos will be nothing more then "cannon fodder"..your trike won't last 30secs...and ur lvl 4 bird's barrel attack would take forever, and would run out of stamina before any progress could be made! What weapons do you have? Crossbow? Longneck?

Kiting is a good solution for your problem. Especially when you get him jumping off a cliff, which then serves as a natural wall between him and your base.

A lvl 1 Alpha Raptor has 3600 hp and does 40 dmg per attack, a bit higher than a carno (35), but he also attacks faster, resulting in a high dps.

Each additional lvl can gain additional +720 hp and +2 dmg, so better have at least one dino with a high dmg output. Otherwise the fight will last too long and your dinos will get eaten or loose stamina if mounted.

The Direbear was a good suggestion in that regard. He also has enough hp to take some punches. But you have to level him first.

You can also try to build some spike walls around him, while flying on your ptera. Not sure how fast he can destroy them, but they will deal some dmg and you are able to hit im with some ranged weapons, if you have a good position to shoot.

get about 30 dilos (those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are vicous in groups)

Only two things you can do: One, use ur bird to lure the raptor far enough away for it not to be an issue. Two, lure the raptor to a location, where you are situated on a high position and the raptor is below out of reach for it to attack. It will stay aggro on you and you can repeatedly damage it with a decent ranged weapon..like a crossbow or longneck..assuming you have ample ammo for either weapon!

I go actively looking for alphas. I use an argentavis, pump melee damage into it, farm alphas with them, just back off and heal up by feeding the Argy if you need too. They have some great drops, I got purple, yellow, blue weapons from them and the xp is amazing for you and your birdy.

Bleh.

make Dodo kibble, its the Easiest kibble to make since Dodo's lay eggs like no other; and only takes regular cooked meat (instead of jerky, which could be time consuming to craft in bulk at your level.) You only need one special crop; which isn't hard to grow... Fertilizer is easy peasy at your level too; tame a Phiomia and force feed it stimberies; itll poop like no tomorrow, and you can easily stock some fertilizer to grow at least One special crop..

Tame highest level Ptera you can find, most have decent enough dmg/sta if they are 100+ wild tame.

then, do the Dive Bomb through alphas.... (tap C, crouch button mid air..)

pay attention to your stamina; when you get to 25% find a good perch to regen.

can EASILY take out alpha raptors in 5/10min max. Great for getting decent EXP and quality loot in the early game.

carno//rex alphas are possible, but take much longer until you get your technique down and level the Ptera a bit.
